The founder says Grunz is available as a native app for Mac, Windows, and Linux, with a separate browser version for chatting with models. The announcement does not specify operating-system versions or browser compatibility.
Tools, planning, and permission settings
The founder describes a loop with approximately 50 tools; no counting method is given. The listed capabilities include file operations, shell access, development servers, a headless Chrome browser, image generation, MCP servers, and subagents. The announcement does not independently demonstrate how reliably these tools work or what access each requires.

Plan mode and approval choices
Grunz is said to have a plan mode that proposes actions before making changes. The founder lists three permission settings:
- Ask before each change.
- Automatically accept edits.
- Full-auto operation.
The announcement does not detail the exact boundaries of each setting—for example, whether command execution and file edits are governed identically—so users should check the app’s current prompts and permissions before allowing it to act on important files or run commands.

A model picker is among the advertised features. The announcement does not name the available models, identify their licenses, or explain how model choice affects capabilities or cost.
What “no subscription” does—and does not—tell you
The founder presents Grunz as having no subscription, seat, or account requirement and says a new device receives a small free balance. The announcement provides no amount for that balance, no price after it is used, and no unit-cost information. “No subscription” therefore describes the stated access model; it does not establish that ongoing use is free or what a typical project will cost.

The source also does not say whether inference runs on the user’s computer, on Grunz-operated infrastructure, or through another service. It names no models or hosting arrangement. Open-weight models can be hosted in different ways, so the phrase alone does not show that Grunz runs them locally or that a particular license applies.
How to assess the privacy claims
The founder says the wallet is anonymous and stored on the device, and that messages, prompts, and files are not stored. The announcement provides no technical explanation or independent evidence for those statements. A wallet stored locally does not establish that prompts, files, or model requests stay on the device: the location and handling of inference are not specified.

Before using Grunz with sensitive or confidential code, look for its current privacy policy and technical details on data transmission, retention, logging, and model hosting. The announcement itself does not answer those questions.

For a meaningful comparison with a subscription coding agent, check the current product details for the model names and licenses, where inference runs, what happens after the free balance, the scope of tool permissions, supported platforms, and data-retention practices. The announcement does not provide enough information to score Grunz against competitors on those points.
