In short: Titanfall 2’s flat-screen version uses its standard gamepad or keyboard-and-mouse controls. A community VR mod for the single-player campaign adds a stereo headset view, 6DoF head tracking, and motion-controller weapon aiming—but it still maps the VR controllers to an Xbox-style gamepad, so familiar game bindings remain part of the experience. A separate vorpX approach is described as stereoscopic VR with mouse-emulated tracking and conventional controls, not motion aiming.
What changes when you play Titanfall 2 in VR?
The dedicated titanfall2vr community mod changes how you view and aim in the single-player campaign. The game is presented in stereo through a headset, and your head movement is tracked in 6DoF. The project also documents adjustable eye height and a neck model, which affect how the tracked view is positioned.
Motion controllers can aim weapons, with a grip-offset calibration option to align the in-game weapon with your controller. The documentation also lists aim-down-sights settings, including a zoom cap and an optional steadiness aid. These are mod features, not evidence of a measured improvement in accuracy or visual quality.
The headset view does not make every action a hand gesture. The mod sends controller input to Titanfall 2 as an Xbox-style gamepad, retaining the game’s controller bindings. It adds configurable turning and crouch modes, and a d-pad modifier because all four d-pad directions are needed.

HUD and Titan cockpit
The mod documentation says you can reposition and scale HUD elements individually, including ammo, reticle, waypoints, and Titan cockpit elements. That gives you control over where interface information appears in the headset; it does not establish a particular level of readability or comfort.
What stays different on a flat screen?
Conventional flat-screen play does not use the headset’s stereo view or tracked head movement, and it does not include the mod’s motion-controller weapon aiming. You can play with the game’s standard gamepad or keyboard-and-mouse controls. The available documentation describes these differences, but does not provide a controlled comparison of image quality, latency, comfort, or performance.

The vorpX developer’s forum explanation says Titanfall 2’s FOV is adjusted by editing the game’s INI file, and that this profile uses mouse emulation for tracking rather than a memory-scanner button. See the vorpX forum discussion (last updated December 28, 2020). The PortalVR Titanfall 2 listing describes stereoscopic 3D VR with gamepad or keyboard-and-mouse controls and no motion aiming; treat that as a secondary description rather than a universal compatibility promise.
What the dedicated mod requires
The project lists Titanfall 2 on Steam or the EA app, Northstar installed and able to launch the game, an OpenXR runtime, and a PC-VR-capable GPU. These requirements are project documentation and can change with mod releases or game updates.

Its documented installation route is to place the mod DLL and INI file in Northstar’s plugins folder, then launch the campaign through Northstar. Check the project page and controls documentation for current files and instructions before installing.

- Choose the dedicated mod if stereo headset rendering, tracked head movement, and motion-controller weapon aiming are the features you want—and you are prepared to use the documented PC, Northstar, and OpenXR setup.
- Consider vorpX if you want a stereoscopic VR presentation while keeping conventional gamepad or keyboard-and-mouse input. Its Titanfall 2 details come from a 2020 forum exchange and a secondary community listing.
- Stay with flat-screen play if you prefer the conventional display and standard controls, or do not want to configure a VR mod.
UEVR’s general documentation describes default VR controller mappings that resemble an Xbox layout, with the left stick for movement and the right stick for rotation; it also describes rebinding through OpenXR, SteamVR, or Steam Input.
