8BitDo describes the 8BitDo Mod Kit for Original N64 Controller as a way to modify an original wired N64 controller into a Bluetooth controller, bringing wireless compatibility with Switch and Android. The official product listing names Switch and Android as supported Bluetooth platforms. It does not establish broader compatibility with other devices, so check the listing and the device’s own controller support before buying for another use.

The Switch/Android claim is not the same as a direct wireless connection to an original N64. For the original console, 8BitDo identifies its Retro Receiver as the link between the modified controller and the N64.

Pair the Mod Kit with the Retro Receiver on an original N64
These are the receiver manual’s pairing steps, not instructions for installing the conversion kit. Connect the Retro Receiver to the console before starting:
- Set the Mod Kit controller’s mode switch to D.
- Turn on the controller by pressing Start.
- Hold the controller’s Pair button for three seconds to enter pairing mode.
- Connect the Retro Receiver to the N64, then press Pair on the receiver.
- Wait for the LEDs to become solid, which the manual identifies as a successful connection.

Check the selected kit configuration
The official store listing presents multiple configurations, including one labeled “Mod Kit + Rumble Pack + TMR Joystick.” Those accessories should not be assumed to come with every version. Confirm the exact selected option and its included parts on the product listing before ordering; variant names and stock status can change.
