The Galaxy Z Flip7’s biggest changes over the Z Flip6 are its larger, brighter cover screen, slightly larger main display, slimmer folded design and bigger battery. It also switches from a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip to Samsung’s Exynos 2500. Which is the better buy depends on your local price, storage tier and any trade-in offer—not on a proven universal performance advantage.
Galaxy Z Flip6 vs Z Flip7: key specifications
This comparison uses Samsung’s published specifications. Samsung notes that “Models may vary by country,” so check the configuration sold in your market before buying.

Display sizes are diagonal measurements; actual viewable area is smaller because of rounded corners and cutouts. Samsung’s video-playback figures are manufacturer estimates, not guaranteed runtime. Samsung says battery performance depends on factors including network conditions, apps, settings and usage.
What changes when you use the phones?
The Flip7’s cover display is more spacious and brighter
The 4.1-inch cover display on the Flip7 gives you more screen area to work with while the phone is folded than the Flip6’s 3.4-inch display. Samsung also lists higher peak brightness for the newer model: 2,600 nits versus 1,600 nits. That is the clearest practical difference for someone who often checks or uses the phone without opening it.
The main screen grows modestly
The Flip7’s unfolded display measures 6.9 inches diagonally, compared with 6.7 inches on the Flip6. The increase is smaller than the cover-screen change, but it provides a little more display area when the phone is open.
The Flip7 is thinner, but not lighter
Samsung lists the Flip7 at 13.7 mm thick when folded and 6.5 mm when unfolded; the Flip6 is 14.9 mm folded and 6.9 mm unfolded. Their listed weights are nearly identical: 188 g for the Flip7 and 187 g for the Flip6.
The chip family changes
The Flip6 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the Flip7 uses Samsung’s Exynos 2500. The listed process sizes are 4 nm and 3 nm, respectively. Those specifications identify different chip designs, but they do not by themselves establish which phone is faster or more efficient in everyday use. The figures here do not provide an independent benchmark comparison.

The Flip7 has a larger battery
Typical capacity increases from 4,000 mAh on the Flip6 to 4,300 mAh on the Flip7. Samsung’s US comparison estimates up to 23 hours of video playback for the Flip6 and up to 31 hours for the Flip7. These are Samsung estimates under its stated qualifications, not a promise that every user will see that runtime.

What is the price difference?
The available official prices are from different markets and dates, so they do not establish a like-for-like price difference between the phones. Samsung UK listed the Flip6’s launch recommended retail prices in 2024; Samsung US lists unlocked Flip7 MSRP in a price document effective March 2026. MSRP is not necessarily the current sale price.

Because the figures differ by country and date, do not subtract them to claim a price gap. For a meaningful comparison, check the current price of each model in the same country at the same storage capacity, then account for only a trade-in value or promotion that is currently available to you. Samsung’s US price list says its prices are subject to change.

Which phone should you choose?
Choose the Flip7 if the newer display and battery matter most
- You want a larger cover screen for using the phone while it is folded.
- You value the higher listed peak cover-display brightness and slightly larger main screen.
- You prefer the slimmer folded dimensions or larger battery capacity.
Consider the Flip6 if it costs less locally
If the Flip6 is substantially cheaper at the same storage tier, its smaller displays and battery may be an acceptable trade-off. The available official price figures do not show what either phone currently costs in your market, so compare live local listings rather than relying on launch or MSRP figures alone.

Do not decide on chip performance from the spec sheet alone
The processor changes from Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to Exynos 2500, but these specifications do not establish an overall speed or battery-efficiency winner. Choose between them only if you have relevant independent tests for your region and typical use; no such benchmark comparison is established here.

How to compare the real upgrade cost
- Find the current local price of each model in the same storage configuration.
- Check the trade-in amount and promotion terms currently offered in your market; subtract only an offer you qualify for.
- Compare the resulting out-of-pocket amounts against the differences you care about, especially the larger cover display, slimmer body and battery capacity.
At Flip6 launch, Samsung UK advertised a preorder trade-in discount and a choice of a case or Samsung Care+. Those were historical UK launch incentives, not evidence of an offer available now.
