Syslogic’s OEM S-82 and S-83 are configurable fanless industrial computers that the manufacturer positions for CAN control, data logging, and IoT gateway roles. They can suit applications such as automated guided vehicles (AGVs), robotics, traffic technology, and industrial automation—but CAN interfaces, networking, wireless options, and temperature ratings vary by model and configuration. Confirm the exact order code before specifying a system.
What the Syslogic OEM series is designed to do
Syslogic describes the OEM S-82 and S-83 as embedded computers for use as CAN bus controllers, data loggers, or IoT gateways. Its industrial-computer overview also names clean technology, traffic technology, and industrial automation among the application areas. These are manufacturer-stated use cases, not independently measured field results.
In this context, “IoT gateway” describes a computer that can connect industrial equipment and support data collection or transfer. It does not mean every configuration includes Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity: Syslogic lists wireless modules as optional. Confirm what communications hardware is included in the configuration being quoted.

What to verify before choosing one for CAN control
Do not assume that every S-82 has CAN or that every model uses the same CAN implementation. The S-82 table describes materially different configurations, while the S-83 page describes two CAN ports. Before ordering, ask Syslogic to confirm:
- The exact order code and number of CAN channels.
- Whether the interface supports CAN FD, and which controller is used.
- The physical connector and compatible cable or harness.
- Whether the CAN interfaces are included in the quoted configuration or require an expansion option.
Syslogic lists DIN rail clips and a CAN cable with an M12 connector among S-82 accessories. These are configuration-dependent accessories, not universal requirements. Its separate CAN-miniPCIe card is an expansion path only if the computer has a compatible PCI Express Mini slot and the onboard CAN implementation does not meet the need.

What to verify for an IoT gateway deployment
A gateway project needs more than a computer described as “IoT-ready.” Establish how the system will connect to the network and what software will move data between the industrial equipment and the destination service.
- Network interfaces: Confirm the Ethernet-port count and configuration for the selected order code.
- Wireless: Ask whether Wi-Fi or cellular hardware is included or must be added as an optional module. Do not treat an optional radio as standard.
- Software and data path: Confirm the supported operating system, drivers, application software, and the integration work required for your protocols and cloud or supervisory system.
- Installation: Verify power input, mounting, enclosure protection, connector types, and the complete system’s operating-temperature range in the current datasheet and integration documentation.
How to specify the right configuration
- Define the job: List the required CAN channels, CAN FD needs, Ethernet connections, radios, storage, and software.
- Compare exact order codes: Use the current S-82 or S-83 configuration table; a family-level product description does not establish that every interface is present on every unit.
- Check the installation envelope: Confirm power, mounting, enclosure protection, connectors, and the temperature rating for the complete selected configuration—not only the component-level figure.
- Resolve accessories and integration: Check CAN-cable and expansion-card compatibility, then confirm the operating system and required drivers or application support.
- Request a configuration quotation: Syslogic presents these products through an inquiry/configuration process and says it can adapt systems for medium quantities; ask the manufacturer to document the agreed specifications.
