There is no first-party, documented workflow in the official guides reviewed for packaging React Native as an Android Archive (AAR) and embedding it inside a Flutter app. The title combines two documented integrations that run in the opposite direction: React Native can be added to an existing Android host, and a Flutter module can be packaged as AARs for an Android host. A product that combines both runtimes therefore needs a custom native Android integration, validated against the exact framework and Android build versions in use.

Documented directions: Flutter module → Android host (AAR); React Native screen or module → Android host (React Native Gradle Plugin and native Android integration). Neither guide establishes React Native → AAR → Flutter app.

What the two official integration guides document

The key question is which framework owns the Android host application. The official guides describe separate ways to add a framework to an Android app; they do not describe one framework packaged inside the other.

Approach Artifact or runtime direction What the guide describes
React Native integration React Native screen or module → existing Android host Add React Native dependencies and its Gradle Plugin to an Android app, provide a ReactActivity entry point, and use Metro during development. React Native: Integration with Existing Apps
Flutter AAR integration Flutter module → existing Android host Build a Flutter module as generic AAR artifacts in a local Maven repository for an Android host to consume. Flutter: Integrate a Flutter module into your Android project
React Native as an AAR inside Flutter React Native AAR → Flutter app Not documented as a first-party workflow in the official pages reviewed.

How React Native joins an existing Android app

React Native’s documented target is an Android host app. The integration involves setting up the React Native project and JavaScript dependencies, configuring the React Native Gradle Plugin and React Android dependencies, and adding a native Android entry point such as a ReactActivity. During development, Metro serves the JavaScript bundle. The React Native Gradle Plugin documentation explains that the plugin, which is installed with React Native, configures Android builds and handles JavaScript bundling.

Yojaro 4Pack Silicone Suction Phone Case Mount, Silicon Adhesive Smartphones Stand Sticky, Hands-Free Phone Accessories Holder for Selfies and Videos (Black & White & Translucent & Light Pink)
  • 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
  • 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
  • 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
  • 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
  • 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

Development and release behavior

  • Debuggable variants: They omit the packaged JavaScript bundle and require Metro to serve it. If you use custom debuggable build variants, declare them to the React Native Gradle Plugin so it knows which variants need this behavior.
  • Release APKs and App Bundles: The documented integration supports release builds, with the JavaScript bundled into the APK or App Bundle by the Gradle Plugin.

These are behaviors of React Native’s documented Android-host workflow. They do not establish how to package a React Native runtime or screen as an AAR for Flutter to consume.

What Flutter’s Android AAR route does

Flutter’s add-to-app documentation packages a Flutter module for an existing Android host. It offers two main integration approaches: include the module as a source Gradle subproject, or build generic AAR artifacts and consume them through a Maven repository.

Apple EarPods Headphones with USB-C Plug, Wired Ear Buds with Built-in Remote to Control Music, Phone Calls, and Volume
  • SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
  • HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
  • BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
  • COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
  • INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.

Source Gradle subproject

The Android host includes the Flutter module as a Gradle subproject. This supports a one-step build, but the machine building the host needs the Flutter SDK.

Generic AARs

The Flutter tool builds AAR artifacts for the module’s build variants and creates a local Maven repository. The host can consume those artifacts through a local or remote repository; host builders do not need the Flutter SDK when building from the published artifacts. In a Kotlin DSL host, use variant-specific dependencies such as debugImplementation and releaseImplementation, and configure a profile dependency if the host has a profile build type. See Flutter’s Android project setup guide for the supported setup.

This AAR flow packages Flutter for a native Android host. It is not a recipe for packaging React Native for a Flutter host.

What combining both frameworks would require

If the requirement is to show React Native and Flutter experiences in one Android product, treat it as a custom native Android architecture rather than assuming that an AAR bridges the frameworks. Decide which Android application owns the process and build, then determine how each runtime starts, how its view or screen is attached, and who manages lifecycle events. The reviewed guides do not supply a version-independent integration recipe for this combined setup.

Use this checklist to assess a proposal before committing to it:

  • Artifact direction: Identify what is being packaged and which Android host consumes it. Flutter documents Flutter-module-to-Android-host AARs; React Native documents integration into an Android host.
  • Build tools: The source-subproject Flutter route requires the Flutter SDK on the host builder’s machine; consuming Flutter AARs from a repository avoids that requirement. React Native’s documented Android integration uses its Gradle Plugin and JavaScript tooling, including Metro for development.
  • Runtime and lifecycle: Specify where each runtime starts, which Activity or other Android component presents its UI, and how navigation and lifecycle events move between the host and framework screens.
  • Build variants and bundling: Check the host’s Gradle variants and plugin dependencies. React Native debuggable variants need Metro rather than a packaged bundle; release builds bundle JavaScript into the APK or App Bundle.
  • Android compatibility: Flutter’s add-to-app support is for AndroidX apps. Its Android setup guide lists Flutter AOT architectures as x86_64, armeabi-v7a, and arm64-v8a; align the host’s supported ABIs and filters with the artifact being used.
  • Plugin assumptions: Flutter warns that plugins can behave unexpectedly when they assume a Flutter Activity is always present. Review Flutter plugins and React Native native modules for assumptions about the host Activity and lifecycle.
  • Framework constraints: Flutter’s add-to-app guide says an Android app cannot pack multiple Flutter libraries. Check whether this or any plugin, Gradle, Android Gradle Plugin, or Android version constraint affects the proposed architecture.

These checks follow the constraints in Flutter’s add-to-app guide and Android project setup guide, alongside React Native’s existing-app integration guide and Gradle Plugin documentation. The instructions are version-sensitive: verify the documentation and compatibility for the project’s exact React Native, Flutter, Gradle, Android Gradle Plugin, and Android versions.

Which integration direction should you choose?

  • You have a native Android app and want React Native screens: Follow React Native’s existing-app integration approach, including its Gradle Plugin, native entry point, and Metro/release bundling setup.
  • You have a native Android app and want Flutter screens: Follow Flutter’s add-to-app guide; choose a source subproject or generic AARs based on whether host builders can depend on the Flutter SDK.
  • You have a Flutter app and want React Native screens: The official guides reviewed do not establish React Native-as-AAR support. Treat any implementation as custom native Android work and require maintained, version-specific documentation for the packaging and runtime approach before relying on it.

Both frameworks’ official Android integration guidance was checked on October 4, 2026. The pages did not expose reliable publication dates, so their current applicability should be confirmed against the versions used by the project.
