Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles has a customizable job system with more than 20 jobs and more than 300 abilities. Those are publisher-stated feature counts, not an independent measure of depth. The game’s tactical battles also make terrain and unit positioning important, giving build experimentation a battlefield context rather than making customization only a menu exercise.
Its combination of jobs, abilities, and positional combat makes it the clearest pick here for someone seeking a vast class system and extensive skill options. The breadth can appeal to players who enjoy trying combinations and adjusting a squad’s roles; those looking for a tightly limited set of fixed character builds may find that less compelling.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn stands out for its unit-level approach to progression. Its Steam listing distinguishes the game’s unit-by-unit level system from the class-wide level management system used in Tactics Ogre (2010). That distinction matters if you want development decisions to apply to individual members of a force rather than treating progression as a single class-wide track.
This is a different customization proposition from Final Fantasy Tactics; the available descriptions do not establish that their build systems are equivalent. Choose Tactics Ogre: Reborn for individual unit progression and tactical campaign decisions, rather than on the assumption that it offers the same job-and-ability breadth. Pick it for the blend of story, political choices, and tactical combat—not because it has been shown to match the broad job and skill flexibility of the top-ranked game. Steam: Triangle Strategy.
