If the Bluetooth switch or icon has vanished from Windows, Microsoft’s current guidance does not identify a new hotfix that restores missing Bluetooth hardware. First determine whether Windows has lost access to the PC’s Bluetooth radio or whether just one accessory is missing or failing to connect; the fixes differ.
First identify what has disappeared

These are different failure states: a missing PC Bluetooth control is not the same as an accessory that is visible but will not connect.
If the Bluetooth control or radio is missing
Microsoft says Bluetooth hardware errors are typically caused by drivers or firmware provided by the PC manufacturer. A Windows update, setting, service, or power state may also be relevant, but a symptom appearing after an update does not by itself prove that update caused it. Try these steps in order.
- Perform a full shutdown. Select Start > Power > Shut down while holding Shift. After the PC turns off, wait one minute, then turn it on. Microsoft specifies Shut down for this check, rather than Restart.
- Check the Bluetooth driver. Right-click Start, open Device Manager, expand Bluetooth, and identify the adapter. Its name may include “Bluetooth” or “Radio.” Right-click it and choose the option to search automatically for drivers. If Windows finds no update, look up drivers for the exact PC model on the manufacturer’s support site.
- Check for optional firmware updates. Open Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates and check for available manufacturer firmware updates. If none are listed, check the PC maker’s support page for model-specific BIOS, UEFI, or firmware updates. Install only updates intended for your exact model.
- Make sure Airplane mode is off. Then, on Windows 11, open the Get Help app and start Microsoft’s automated Bluetooth troubleshooter.
- Ask the PC manufacturer for model-specific help. If the control remains missing or grayed out, Microsoft recommends contacting the manufacturer, which may have troubleshooting steps for that model.
Microsoft’s support guidance covers Windows 10 and Windows 11. Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025, so that coverage should not be taken as a promise of ongoing free support for Windows 10.

If one Bluetooth accessory is missing or will not connect
If Windows still shows Bluetooth as available, work through the accessory rather than treating the PC radio as missing.
- Confirm the PC supports Bluetooth and that Bluetooth is switched on.
- Power on the accessory, charge it if needed, and put it into pairing mode according to its instructions.
- Bring the accessory close to the PC and check that it is not already connected to another device.
- On Windows 11, change the Bluetooth device discovery setting to Advanced if the accessory is not appearing; this setting lets Windows display all types of devices.
- If the accessory was paired previously, remove it from the Windows device list and pair it again.
Is there a new Microsoft hotfix for disappearing Bluetooth?
The Microsoft update notes cited here do not establish a hotfix specifically for a Bluetooth radio disappearing from Windows. Two recent preview notes mention Bluetooth, but neither says it restores missing Bluetooth hardware:

Do not install either update on the assumption that it is a Bluetooth-disappearing fix. Before attributing a missing radio to a particular update, confirm the exact KB or driver package, its affected and fixed Windows builds, the relevant PC models or Bluetooth chipsets, and Microsoft’s stated symptom and workaround.
