What happened in the Schneider Electric ransomware attack?
Schneider Electric’s incident statement says the ransomware incident affected its Sustainability Business division on January 17, 2024. Resource Advisor and other systems specific to the division were impacted. The company said the division used isolated network infrastructure and that no other Schneider Electric entity was affected. What systems were affected, and when was access restored?
The disruption involved Resource Advisor and other division-specific systems. Schneider Electric said it restored the division’s business platforms in a secure environment and reopened access on January 31, 2024, after testing. Its statement, first published January 29 and updated February 1 and February 19, said the investigation showed that the threat actor had obtained data. What did the later data-breach notice disclose?
A notice dated October 31, 2025, says a review found that some recipients’ personal information was involved. It states that an unknown, unauthorized actor accessed certain Sustainability Business division systems between December 27, 2023, and January 17, 2024, and obtained unstructured datasets during that period. This is a later, more detailed disclosure; it does not establish that every customer, platform user, or person associated with the division was affected. If you received the October 2025 notice, read your own copy to learn whether your information was involved and what protective steps or services, if any, are offered to you. The notice discusses additional steps recipients may consider, but the cited information does not establish that any particular commercial identity-protection service is required. How did Schneider Electric respond?
The company said it mobilized its Global Incident Response team, contained the incident, reinforced existing security measures, restored systems in a secure environment, and continued forensic analysis with outside cybersecurity firms and relevant authorities. How can you report a cybersecurity issue to Schneider Electric?

It distinguishes reporting paths for customers, suppliers, and other individuals, and says its Security Operations Center receives and triages reports around the clock. Follow the live page’s instructions, since reporting details can change.

The cited incident sources do not name the attacker, disclose a ransom amount, provide a final forensic report, give a count of affected people, or list all data elements involved. The 2025 notice establishes that personal information was involved for some recipients, but does not support a broader claim about all customers or users.
