Xilinx and QuickLogic announced separate workforce reductions in 2008. Xilinx said it would eliminate about 250 positions, roughly 7% of its global workforce; QuickLogic later reported reductions totaling about 30% through outsourcing and an operational realignment. These were distinct actions, not a current layoff announcement.
What Xilinx announced
In a June 4, 2008 release, Xilinx said a functional reorganization would eliminate approximately 250 positions, about 7% of its global workforce. The company said it expected the reduction to be completed by the end of the next fiscal quarter. Xilinx estimated restructuring charges of approximately $18 million to $22 million, including severance and facility-related costs. The release does not provide a location-by-location or job-function breakdown, or individual severance terms.
What QuickLogic reported
QuickLogic’s 2008 SEC-filed quarterly report describes two actions. An outsourcing decision in April reduced headcount by approximately 13%. A June 3 realignment focused on its CSSP business reduced headcount by a further 17%. QuickLogic reported a combined worldwide reduction of approximately 30%. QuickLogic said the realignment was intended to lower fixed costs and break-even revenue, allow profitability to scale more quickly as revenue grew, and preserve discretionary spending to support revenue from new products. The report does not identify every affected role or provide individual severance terms.

The figures should not be read as equal-sized cuts: Xilinx reported both an approximate position count and a workforce percentage, while the cited QuickLogic passage reports percentages without a comparable absolute count. The actions also differed: Xilinx described a functional reorganization; QuickLogic described outsourcing and a later operational realignment.

These figures are historical, not a current announcement
QuickLogic reported separate workforce and restructuring events in later years. Its 2015 annual report described a nine-person reduction, or 9% of its global workforce. Its FY2025 filing reports 51 employees worldwide as of December 28, 2025, and $75,000 in 2025 restructuring costs, primarily attributable to severance related to discontinued SensiML operations.
