The Google Pixel 11 is a conventional 6.3-inch smartphone; the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is a foldable with a 6.5-inch cover screen and an 8-inch screen when opened. On the stated US starting prices, the Fold8 Ultra costs $1,200.99 more. Choose between a lighter, less expensive phone and a device whose larger inner display is designed for working across a broader screen—not between two versions of the same kind of phone.

How much more does the Fold8 Ultra cost?
Using the announced US starting price of $899 for Pixel 11 and Samsung US’s $2,099.99 starting price for Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra before trade-in, the difference is $1,200.99. Google announced Pixel 11 retail availability for August 20, 2026, and its August 25 post said the series was on shelves. Samsung announced Fold8 Ultra availability beginning August 7, 2026. This is a comparison of the two stated starting prices, not a matched-storage quote or a promise about today’s checkout total. Which screen and form factor fits you?
Pixel 11: a conventional phone
Pixel 11 has one 6.3-inch display and weighs 197 g. Its familiar single-screen format avoids the Fold’s open-and-close form factor and keeps the device 18 g lighter according to the manufacturers’ listed weights. Google lists a 1080 × 2424 OLED panel with a 60–120 Hz refresh rate.
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: a phone that opens into a larger display
Fold8 Ultra offers a 6.5-inch cover screen for use while closed and an 8-inch main screen when open; Samsung lists its unfolded thickness as 4.1 mm and weight as 215 g. The larger inner display is the clearest reason to pay more if you want extra on-device space for reading, viewing content, or multitasking. Screen size alone does not establish how much faster or more productive it will be for your particular work.

Samsung announced availability beginning August 7, 2026, across 106 markets, with availability expanding globally. Market, retailer, carrier, storage configuration, and color can vary. The Pixel 11 is not Google’s foldable: Google lists Pixel 11 Pro Fold as a separate phone, and it is not the model compared here.
How do the cameras compare on paper?
Pixel 11’s rear cameras are a 48 MP wide, 13 MP ultrawide, and 10.8 MP 5× telephoto. Google lists Super Zoom up to 30×. Fold8 Ultra has a 200 MP wide, 50 MP ultrawide, and 10 MP 3× telephoto camera. The Pixel’s listed telephoto has the longer optical zoom specification, while Samsung lists higher megapixel counts for its main and ultrawide cameras. Those figures describe hardware and advertised zoom ranges; they do not show which phone produces better photos or video in real use.

Battery and charging: compare the claims carefully
Google lists Pixel 11’s typical battery capacity as 4,985 mAh, estimates more than 30 hours of battery life, and says it can reach up to 55% charge in about 30 minutes with a 30 W USB-C PPS charger or higher, sold separately. It also lists Qi2.2-certified wireless charging up to 25 W.
Samsung lists a typical 5,000 mAh battery for Fold8 Ultra and up to 27 hours of video playback, subject to Samsung’s stated test conditions. The companies use different battery-life measures, so these claims do not establish which phone lasts longer in a direct comparison. Battery capacity alone does not determine endurance.

Performance, storage, and software support
Google lists Tensor G6, 12 GB RAM, and 256 GB or 512 GB storage for Pixel 11. Samsung lists Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy and storage choices of 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB; its 1 TB version has 16 GB memory, while the 256 GB and 512 GB versions have 12 GB. These processor and memory specifications do not establish a real-world speed winner.
Pixel 11 launched with Android 17, and Google commits to seven years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates. The cited Samsung product information does not state an equivalent support period, so this comparison cannot give a like-for-like support-duration figure for Fold8 Ultra.

Multitasking and stylus support
The Fold8 Ultra’s 8-inch inner screen gives you more display area for tasks that benefit from a larger workspace. That is a practical form-factor distinction, not proof of a universal multitasking advantage; the payoff depends on what you do and whether you prefer using an open foldable.
Samsung says Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra does not support S Pen. If stylus input is essential, do not assume that the Fold’s large screen means it supports Samsung’s pen.
Which one should you buy?
- Choose Pixel 11 if you want a conventional phone, prefer the lighter listed weight, want Google’s stated seven-year update commitment, or do not need a folding inner screen.
- Choose Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra if the 8-inch open display is worth the higher starting price to you and you will use the extra screen area. Factor in its 215 g listed weight and lack of S Pen support.
- Compare another model if you meant to compare Google foldables: Pixel 11 Pro Fold is a separate device, and its specifications are outside this comparison.
Samsung describes its Galaxy Z series preorder increase as more than 30% over the previous generation. That is Samsung’s company-reported launch statistic, not an independent sales measure, and it does not indicate which phone suits an individual buyer. Samsung also describes Samsung Care+ as including accidental-damage repairs, extended warranty coverage, and expert support; coverage and enrollment terms depend on market and plan.
