First identify your RCA tablet’s exact model, then follow its manual’s diagram for the microSD slot and card orientation. RCA lists support for cards up to 512 GB on the RATR30824, RATR31024, and RAKR30824; that limit is not established for every RCA tablet. Insert the card gently, confirm it appears under Storage settings, and eject it there before removal.
1. Identify your RCA tablet model
Find the model number on the tablet’s label, its packaging, original paperwork, or in Settings under an About or device-information screen. Use that number to find the matching RCA product page or user manual. Slot placement, card orientation, and capacity can differ across models, so do not rely on instructions for a tablet that merely looks similar.
2. Check whether your model supports microSD
RCA product specifications list one microSD expansion slot and support up to 512 GB for these models:

These specifications apply to the listed models, not necessarily to other RCA tablets. If your model is different, check its own manual or product page before buying a card; the sources cited here do not establish a required speed rating.

3. Locate the slot and check the card orientation
Use the slot diagram in the manual for your exact tablet. The cited RCA product pages confirm that the three models above have a microSD slot, but they do not establish one universal slot location or which way the card’s contacts should face. Do not assume the slot is in the same place as another RCA model’s.
4. Insert the microSD card gently
- Power the tablet down if its model manual tells you to do so.
- Expose the microSD slot as shown in the manual. Do not pry at the device or use a tool to alter the slot.
- Align the card exactly as illustrated in the model’s diagram, then slide it in gently. If it catches or will not seat smoothly, stop and recheck the orientation rather than forcing it.
5. Confirm that the tablet recognizes the card
Open Settings and look under Storage for the card. The RATR31024 manual copy identifies Storage settings as the place to manage device storage. Menu wording and layout may differ by tablet model or software version. If the card does not appear, check the manual for that model and confirm that the card’s capacity is within its stated limit.

6. Eject the card before removing it
Before physically removing a card, open its storage controls and choose the eject option if available. The third-party-hosted RATR31024 user manual says: “If you have an SD-Card inserted, click on the Eject icon before disconnecting SD-Card from the device.” Follow the instructions in your own model’s manual if its removal procedure differs.
