Use Lioran’s @liorans3/driver to create and manage buckets through client.buckets, then call object methods on a bucket-scoped handle from client.bucket(name). The examples below follow the vendor’s pre-alpha API; pin the package version you install and validate behavior against that release before using it in production.
Before you start: Lioran S3’s status and scope
Lioran describes S3 V1 as self-hosted object storage with a TypeScript driver and CLI. Its overview says V1 is single-node and does not currently provide a drop-in AWS S3 API compatibility layer. These examples use Lioran’s Bastion driver, not the AWS JavaScript SDK, so AWS SDK code should not be assumed to work unchanged. See the Lioran S3 V1 overview.
The vendor announced the V1 Pre-Alpha launch on October 1, 2026. It warns that “APIs, storage formats, protocol details, SDK behavior, and operational assumptions may change before stable releases.” Validate the driver and your operational requirements before relying on it for important workloads. Install the driver and connect
The vendor’s getting-started guide specifies Node.js 18 or newer, TypeScript 5 or newer, a running Lioran S3 instance, and valid user credentials or an access key. Its install example uses the pre-alpha package tag:

Keep credentials in environment or secret-management configuration rather than committing them to source control. Because this is a pre-alpha package, confirm the current install tag, constructor options, and health response in the getting-started guide and your installed package.
Create and manage buckets
Bucket administration is grouped under client.buckets. The vendor tutorial demonstrates creating a bucket with versioning disabled and a quota, listing buckets, retrieving bucket information, and updating quota and tags:

Delete a bucket cautiously
The tutorial shows ordinary deletion as await client.buckets.delete("media"). It also documents a force option that removes objects in the bucket:
await client.buckets.delete("media", { force: true });Use forced deletion only after verifying that the bucket and its contents are disposable. The vendor explicitly warns that this operation removes objects; do not treat it as a reversible cleanup step.

Create, read, and delete objects
Get a bucket-scoped handle with client.bucket(name). Object keys identify objects within that bucket; the CRUD tutorial’s basic example writes a text object, reads it, obtains its text content, and deletes it:

If you need metadata but not the body, the tutorial uses bucket.head(key). Its example metadata includes contentType, contentLength, etag, and sha256:

For a small or simple listing, the getting-started article shows the convenience form bucket.list({ prefix }). The CRUD tutorial also demonstrates listing with a prefix, a limit, and an opaque cursor. When paginating, pass the returned cursor into the next request and continue until there is no next cursor. Do not parse, edit, or synthesize cursor contents.

Read part of an object with a byte range
The CRUD tutorial demonstrates getRange for start/end byte intervals and suffix-length reads. Partial reads may be useful for cases such as media playback, resumable downloads, or large archives, but the examples do not establish performance guarantees. Confirm the range syntax and boundary behavior for your installed driver version.
Keys such as uploads/2026/10/avatar.png are logical object keys. A slash in a key does not establish that the object maps to the same raw filesystem path on the server.
Handle driver errors without hiding failures
The getting-started guide names structured errors including NotFoundError, QuotaExceededError, BastionAuthError, ConnectionError, and BastionError. It demonstrates handling known cases and rethrowing unknown errors. Since exports and error behavior may change during pre-alpha, verify names and handling against your installed package; avoid swallowing unrecognized failures.
Plan for deployment separately from CRUD calls
The vendor overview says the storage process does not terminate TLS and recommends putting public deployments behind a reverse proxy such as Caddy or Nginx. It also describes authentication roles and access keys, password rotation, secret redaction, configurable production CORS, expiring signed URLs, and checks against unsafe default credentials. These are vendor-described product features, not independently audited guarantees. Review the product overview and verify the controls that apply to your deployment.
