1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIn the Geekbench Android chart accessed October 4, 2026, the listed Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phones score higher than the listed Google Pixel 9 phones with Tensor G4 in both single-core and multi-core results. That points to stronger CPU benchmark performance for those Snapdragon-powered devices, but it is not a controlled test of the chips in identical phones. Cooling, power limits, software and handset design all affect what a phone delivers.
Which processor is faster in benchmarks?
The Geekbench Android chart lists several Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 devices above the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9a with Tensor G4. These are named-phone submissions, not isolated-chip measurements; compare them as directional evidence rather than a universal performance margin.
| Phone in Geekbench Android chart | Processor | Single-core score | Multi-core score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Asus Zenfone 10 | Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 | 1,776 | 5,244 |
| Samsung Galaxy S23 | Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 | 1,754 | 5,072 |
| Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra | Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 | 1,755 | 5,052 |
| Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus | Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 | 1,731 | 4,877 |
| Google Pixel 9 | Tensor G4 | 1,514 | 4,393 |
| Google Pixel 9a | Tensor G4 | 1,485 | 4,260 |
Geekbench’s live Android chart, accessed October 4, 2026, does not provide a matched same-phone comparison. Its results reflect complete devices and can vary with software, thermal behavior and power settings. The chart supports the limited conclusion that these Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phone examples score higher in this CPU benchmark; it does not establish the size of a silicon-only advantage. What the specifications show
Qualcomm describes Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 as a 4 nm mobile platform with an X70 5G modem. Its product page specifies CPU speeds up to 3.36 GHz, and also documents a 3.19 GHz platform variant. Qualcomm notes that the maximum speed depends on platform version and OEM specifications, so the top figure should not be assumed for every phone. Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 specifications.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Comparison sources identify the Snapdragon GPU as Adreno 740 and Tensor G4’s as Mali-G715, and list both processors as 8-core and 4 nm. Those Tensor specifications here come from secondary sources, not a retrieved Google silicon specification. Core count and process node alone do not predict performance across different designs.
CPU, graphics and gaming are different questions
CPU workloads
Geekbench measures CPU performance. Its single-core score is relevant to work that relies heavily on one core, while multi-core results indicate performance in workloads able to use several cores. Neither number directly measures how fast every app feels; app behavior, software optimization and the rest of the phone matter.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Graphics and games
The listed GPU names identify different graphics hardware, but the available named-device Geekbench chart does not provide a matched graphics test for these phones. A GPU label or CPU score cannot establish which phone sustains higher frame rates in a particular game. Game version, graphics settings, cooling and power limits can change results during longer sessions.
How to interpret other benchmark comparisons
Aggregate benchmark pages can add context, but their methods and sample sizes differ from a matched test. NanoReview’s live comparison page reports AnTuTu 11 totals of 1,757,044 for Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 1,519,937 for Tensor G4, based on 238 and 25 tests respectively. It also reports Geekbench 6 results of 2,004 versus 1,707 single-core and 5,311 versus 4,431 multi-core, based on 132 and 11 tests. These are aggregates with unequal sample counts, not controlled measurements of both processors in one handset. NanoReview’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Tensor G4 comparison.

Another comparison page, from 91mobiles, gives conflicting Tensor G4 AnTuTu totals: 1,400,792 in its description and detailed section, but 1,610,292 in its summary row. Because the page is internally inconsistent, neither figure is a sound basis for claiming a precise advantage. Benchmark values are meaningful only alongside the test version, source, device sample and method.
Gizmochina’s article dated September 22, 2024 says its Geekbench and AnTuTu testing favored Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, while noting that software optimization and cooling influence real-world performance. Treat that as a historical test rather than a current, universal result. The article also attributes to Google Pixel product-management team member Soniya Jobanputra the view that Tensor G4 was designed around Google’s use cases rather than a particular benchmark, including improving app-launch experience. That is a second-hand attribution in the article, not a verified original transcript. Gizmochina’s 2024 comparison.

Platform and phone differences to consider
A processor is only one part of a phone. Qualcomm’s platform page documents the X70 modem, but a platform specification does not establish a particular handset’s real-world signal, throughput or battery life. Antenna design, carrier support, software, network conditions and device configuration also affect connectivity.
Likewise, results from a Zenfone 10 or Galaxy S23 cannot automatically describe every Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phone. The chip’s operating limits, cooling system, memory configuration and software differ by model. Pixel 9 and Pixel 9a scores are also phone-specific. For device context, Geekbench lists these phone submissions, while Gizmochina’s 2024 article describes examples of each processor’s use in phones; exact regional variants should be checked when evaluating a particular model.

Which one should matter more for your use?
- For CPU benchmark performance: the cited Geekbench chart examples favor Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phones in both single-core and multi-core scores.
- For sustained gaming: look for testing of the exact handset, game and settings over a sustained session; the available CPU results do not settle frame rates or heat behavior.
- For everyday responsiveness: consider the specific phone’s software and app behavior rather than treating a synthetic score as a direct measure of how it feels.
- For connectivity or battery life: check device-specific testing and regional network support; modem or chipset specifications alone do not establish real-world outcomes.
The cited sources do not provide a matched controlled test that isolates these two chips, nor do they establish a comprehensive comparison of imaging, AI features, battery life or current phone value. A buying decision therefore needs current reviews and prices for the exact handset and regional configuration, not just a processor name.
