The Chamber of Digital Commerce is the former name of The Digital Chamber, an industry trade association established in 2014. It advocates for digital assets and blockchain through policy work, industry initiatives, events, reports, and public-facing letters. It is an advocacy organization—not a government regulator, cryptocurrency exchange, blockchain network, or wallet.

Is the Chamber of Digital Commerce still called that?

No. The organization now uses the name The Digital Chamber; “Chamber of Digital Commerce” is its former name. Its official history says it was established in 2014 with an education and advocacy mission for the digital-assets and blockchain industry. Its current website describes work across digital assets, blockchain, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies.

What does The Digital Chamber do?

The Digital Chamber represents industry interests in policy discussions and convenes people from the sector and policymakers. Its public work includes policy advocacy, initiatives, events, reports, and letters. Its positions are those of an industry advocacy group; they should not be treated as government guidance or as a consensus view shared by everyone in the blockchain industry.

In a 2021 letter, the Chamber described its mission as promoting acceptance and use of digital assets and blockchain technology. That is historical mission language, not necessarily the organization’s current wording. The letter is available through the U.S. Government Publishing Office.

How is the Chamber different from its Foundation?

The Chamber and The Digital Chamber Foundation are affiliated but distinct organizations. According to the Foundation’s official website, the Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization focused on research and education and says it cannot lobby. The site describes the Chamber as a 501(c)(6) membership organization permitted to lobby. Because legal and tax details can change, consult current official information for decisions that depend on an entity’s present status.

How many members does it have?

A current membership total is not established by the official materials cited here. In testimony to Congress in 2022, founder and CEO Perianne Boring said the Chamber had more than 200 members at that time. That is a dated figure, not a current count. Her testimony is hosted by the U.S. Government Publishing Office.
