Believe in the Run says the SpeedVault+ plate has been re-angled to a steeper angle. Runner’s World characterizes the shoe as a pure-PEBA racer with a steeper plate and rocker, while Doctors of Running calls the result snappy. These descriptions can help you understand the intended character, but they do not tell you whether the setup will suit your stride or improve your race time.
Believe in the Run reports weighing its W7.5 sample at 6.1 oz. That is a reviewer’s measurement of one sample, not a direct contradiction of Brooks’ 6.8 oz / 192.8 g listing: the size and measurement basis differ, and Brooks’ captured listing does not state its sample size.

Is it a good marathon shoe?
It is explicitly designed for marathons as well as half marathons, so its intended use fits a runner shopping for a plated road-racing shoe at those distances. Whether it is a good choice for you depends on fit and whether you like a more aggressive plated ride. The available assessments are favorable about the race feel, but there is no directly comparable controlled race test here to show that it beats another racer or makes runners faster.
What changed from the Hyperion Elite 5?
The clearest documented change is the Elite 6’s SpeedVault+ plate geometry: Believe in the Run describes it as re-angled to a steeper angle. The Elite 6 also uses an updated DNA GOLD midsole according to Brooks. Tom’s Guide’s 2026 roundup discusses the Elite 5, describing its DNA Gold foam as PEBA and calling that predecessor Brooks’ best carbon-plate racer to that point. That is product-line context, not a direct Elite 5-versus-Elite 6 test, so it cannot establish how much faster or better the newer shoe is.

At Brooks’ US listed price of $275, it is a substantial purchase; value will depend on whether its fit and assertive ride work for you. If possible, try it on and assess comfort and stability at a pace representative of your intended racing before committing.
