The SwitchBot E-Ink Home Dashboard is a dedicated, 7.5-inch household display for weather and SwitchBot home data—not a general-purpose tablet. SwitchBot says it can show local indoor readings, optional outdoor-sensor data, forecast and air-quality information, plus configurable dashboard pages. Its appeal depends on whether you want information visible at a glance enough to justify another device, and possibly an extra sensor or hub. The points below are based on SwitchBot’s product and support documentation, not hands-on testing.
What does the SwitchBot E-Ink Home Dashboard show?
SwitchBot describes the unit as a 7.5-inch E-Ink weather station. Its product listing highlights indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, air-quality information, sunrise and sunset, and a five-day forecast. The support documentation describes a broader home screen, including the home location, last refresh time, schedule, Do Not Disturb status, alarm and battery level.
Weather and date fields documented by SwitchBot include date, day, time, weather, high and low temperatures, comfort indicator, and sunrise and sunset. Weather-related information can include AQI, PM2.5, pollen, wind speed and direction, UV, precipitation, visibility and atmospheric pressure. The support page describes a forecast module covering yesterday, today and the next five days, while the product listing calls it a “5-day forecast.” Because those descriptions differ, check the current interface or documentation if the precise forecast span matters to you.
Not all displayed information comes from the same source. The dashboard measures its own indoor temperature and humidity; weather information is network-derived, and a compatible SwitchBot Outdoor Meter can supply measured outdoor readings. The distinction matters if you want local sensor readings rather than weather-service data.

Does it need Wi-Fi?
Yes. SwitchBot’s setup instructions require a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Pair the dashboard in the SwitchBot app, hold the rear button for two seconds, connect it, and enter the network credentials. On first use, it automatically updates and downloads data; SwitchBot notes that this may take some time.
Can you customize the screen?
SwitchBot supports web-based custom pages, but the feature has stated software prerequisites: SwitchBot app version 9.28 or newer and dashboard firmware 2.0 or newer. You can configure up to four pages, arrange their cards, and publish them. The dashboard can then be refreshed with its button. If custom layouts are your main reason for buying, confirm that your app and device firmware meet those requirements before relying on the feature.

Can it show data from a SwitchBot Meter?
SwitchBot documents support for up to three temperature and humidity data sources. Its listed compatible products include Meter, Meter Plus, Outdoor Meter, Meter Pro, Meter Pro (CO2 Monitor), Home Climate Panel, Hub 2, Hub 3 and Hub Mini Matter Enabled. SwitchBot also says readings from the Meter Pro (CO2 Monitor) can be displayed.
For Meter products, SwitchBot’s multiple-meter instructions say the sensors need to be within Bluetooth range of the dashboard. If they are out of range, a hub product is required for this function. The official US product page also offers bundles with an Outdoor Meter, Hub Mini Matter, or both. An Outdoor Meter is the relevant add-on when you want locally measured outdoor temperature and humidity; a hub is not a blanket requirement for every dashboard use.

Does it need a hub?
No, not for basic setup and use over Wi-Fi. A hub becomes relevant for particular ecosystem functions, including relaying meter data when the meter is outside the dashboard’s Bluetooth range. SwitchBot also explicitly requires a hub for low-battery notifications. Consider the hub only if you need those functions or another supported ecosystem feature.
How long does the battery last?
SwitchBot specifies a 5000 mAh lithium battery and estimates up to one year per charge. That is a conditional manufacturer estimate: SwitchBot says its laboratory test had the dashboard connect to Wi-Fi and refresh the screen automatically every three hours. The company cautions that results vary with actual conditions, so the figure is not an independently verified typical runtime. For charging when the battery is low, SwitchBot recommends a 5V/1A adapter and cable.

Can you read it in a dark room?
The dashboard has a built-in backlight activated by the upper-right button. It turns off automatically after ten seconds. SwitchBot warns that leaving the backlight on can drain the battery faster and may affect temperature and humidity measurement accuracy because of heat. That makes it useful for a brief glance in low light, but not equivalent to a continuously illuminated screen.

At the time the SwitchBot US listing was accessed, the standalone dashboard was listed at $109.99, with separate bundles for an Outdoor Meter, Hub Mini Matter, or both. Those prices and availability can change, and regional listings may differ, so check the current local product page before purchasing. Who is it for?
This device is most relevant to someone who wants an always-visible household information display and already uses, or plans to use, SwitchBot sensors. Its value is less clear if you only need weather occasionally on a phone, want an interactive general-purpose screen, or do not want to depend on Wi-Fi and app-based configuration. Evaluate it as a focused display: weigh the information you will actually glance at against the added cost of any sensor or hub required for your particular setup.
