To level a Samsung refrigerator, place it in its final position on a flat, solid floor, empty it, and adjust the front leveling legs while checking the refrigerator cabinet with a carpenter’s level. Use the adjustment method and front-to-back setting in your exact model’s manual: Samsung support pages describe different front-to-back guidance, and the leg mechanism can vary. Door height is a separate adjustment.
What you need before you start
- A carpenter’s level
- A flat-head screwdriver for the leveling mechanism
- A Phillips screwdriver if your model’s front leg cover requires one
Samsung’s general guidance names a carpenter’s level and flat-head screwdriver. Check your refrigerator’s manual for the exact access and adjustment method; not every model uses the same leg design.
Prepare the refrigerator
- Empty the refrigerator. Samsung’s US troubleshooting guidance says to level the appliance empty.
- Put it in its final position. Leveling should be done where it will remain, on a flat, solid floor. Samsung states: “When installed, the refrigerator must be leveled on a flat, solid floor.” — Samsung US Support, “Level your refrigerator”.
- Locate the front leveling legs. They are generally beneath the front of the refrigerator. On Side-by-Side and Four-Door models, opening both doors may make the legs easier to reach. If a front leg cover blocks access, remove it as your model manual directs.
Adjust the front leveling legs
- Set the level on the main refrigerator cabinet—not on a door—and check it from side to side.
- Use the flat-head screwdriver on the leveler or its notch, following the direction specified for your model. Samsung’s support materials do not describe the rotation direction consistently across all guidance: one page says clockwise raises and counterclockwise lowers, while its general guide describes raising by rotating left and correcting a high side by rotating right. Do not assume one direction applies to every mechanism.
- Make small adjustments, then check the cabinet again. Repeat until it meets the model manual’s leveling instructions. Samsung says the front legs should generally extend enough to lift the front wheels off the floor on most level surfaces.

Set front-to-back level according to your model
Samsung’s general guide says to check the refrigerator front to back and discusses a slight backward slant if the doors do not stay open. Samsung’s US troubleshooting page instead says the front should be a little higher than the rear for safety. The Samsung-hosted Dacor DRF36C700 installation guide gives the front-higher instruction for that specific line. These descriptions do not establish one universal tilt or angle for every Samsung refrigerator.

Follow the installation manual for your exact model when deciding front-to-back height. Check the cabinet itself; a door that sits high or does not align properly may need a separate door-height adjustment rather than a change to the cabinet level.
When the doors or rear height need attention
Doors are uneven
Level the cabinet first, then use the separate door-height adjustment procedure if needed. Hardware varies by model. For example, the Dacor DRF36C700 installation guide describes a separate height lever or snap rings for applicable models; do not assume that hardware applies to another refrigerator.

The rear needs adjustment
Samsung says rear adjustment pads are available on applicable models, including certain Auto Open Door refrigerators. Use those pads only if your model’s instructions call for them; the cited guidance does not establish a generic replacement method.

- Reinstall any front leg cover you removed.
- Before moving the refrigerator, raise its leveling legs into the refrigerator and off the floor to help protect the floor, as Samsung advises.
If the legs, rear pads, or door hardware on your refrigerator do not match the instructions, consult the exact model’s manual or contact Samsung Support rather than forcing an adjustment.
