To turn on Copilot Journeys in Microsoft Edge, open Settings and more (…) > Settings > Copilot and AI, then turn on both Copilot new tab page and Journeys. To turn Journeys off, return to the same page and switch off Journeys. Microsoft says switching it off immediately stops Journeys data collection and deletes information stored to create Journey cards.
Turn Copilot Journeys on or off
- In Edge, select Settings and more (…) in the upper-right corner.
- Select Settings, then open Copilot and AI.
- To enable Journeys, turn on Copilot new tab page and Journeys. Journeys is off by default.
- To disable Journeys, switch off Journeys in the same section.
These are Microsoft’s current desktop and mobile instructions. If the controls are missing, your account, region, device, or rollout eligibility may be the reason; availability can change as Microsoft rolls out the feature.
What changes when Journeys is enabled?
Journeys groups browsing activity into topic-based cards shown on Edge’s new tab page after enough activity accumulates. Microsoft says it creates short summaries of pages you view and combines them with related page titles, URLs, searches, and Copilot chats. It may also access non-sensitive page content, time spent on pages, and navigation context.
When setting up Journeys, Microsoft may use recent browsing history to create the first cards, using page titles and URLs rather than the full content of previously visited pages. You can skip this initial use of existing history. After that one-time choice, Journeys are based on new browsing activity.

What information does Microsoft say Journeys excludes?
Microsoft says its filtering excludes sensitive sites such as banking and healthcare, personal information such as email addresses, account numbers, IDs, and sign-in details, and sensitive topics such as medical records or adult content. InPrivate and Guest Mode browsing is excluded automatically.
Microsoft also says non-sensitive content sent to its secure services is encrypted and stored securely, and is not used for AI training or advertising. These are Microsoft’s statements about its own handling of Journeys data.

Does turning off Journeys delete browsing history?
No. Microsoft says turning off Journeys stops its collection and deletes information previously stored to create Journeys. Clearing general Edge browsing history is a separate action, and turning off Journeys does not mean that your browser history has been cleared.
If you want to clear browsing history so Journeys cannot use it, Microsoft instructs users to switch off Journeys first, then go to Settings and more (…) > History to clear history. Microsoft also says older Journeys and their underlying data are automatically deleted after 14 days; that retention period applies to Journeys data, not all Edge history.

Where is Copilot Journeys available?
Microsoft’s May 13, 2026 announcement listed desktop Journeys in English markets en-US, en-GB, en-CA, en-AU, en-NZ, en-IN, and en-SG, and mobile Journeys in the U.S. only at that time. Microsoft Support says the feature is available to personal Microsoft account users on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android, while noting that mobile rollout may still be in progress. Availability may have changed since that announcement.
If Journeys does not appear under Copilot and AI, check that Edge is signed in with a personal Microsoft account and that the feature has rolled out for your device and region. The enterprise policy EdgeEntraCopilotPageContext is for certain Copilot side-pane context access on supported Windows and macOS devices; it is not the consumer Journeys toggle.
