Switch the washer off at the mains for 30 seconds, restart it, and try a new program. If the code returns after the basic checks for your model, contact Samsung support or an authorized service center rather than opening the machine or replacing parts based on the code alone.
What does the 3E code mean?
Samsung describes 3E as a motor-related issue; its UK guide groups 3E with 3C under “Engine/Motor operation.” The code means the washer has detected a problem with motor operation. It is not, by itself, proof that the motor needs replacing. Check the manual for your exact model because Samsung says information codes can vary by model.
Samsung lists several possible causes, including an overloaded drum, a disconnected motor Hall sensor terminal or housing connection, foreign material in the motor, or a PBA fault. Samsung Ukraine also notes that low or unstable voltage may be involved. These are possibilities, not a diagnosis: the displayed code alone cannot establish which one applies.
What should you try first?
- Check the model-specific guidance. Consult the washer’s owner’s manual or Samsung’s support information for your model and local market.
- Power-cycle the washer. Samsung Saudi Arabia advises switching the appliance off at the mains, waiting 30 seconds, switching it back on, and starting a new program.
- If appropriate for your model, test an empty cycle. Samsung Ukraine advises checking that the washer is connected directly to an electrical outlet, then running a program without laundry or detergent. These are regional instructions; follow your local manual if it differs.
Samsung Ukraine says that if the empty program completes successfully, overload or unstable voltage may have contributed; it says continued use is acceptable in that case. If the error remains, contact support or arrange repair.

When should you call Samsung service?
Contact Samsung support or an authorized service center if 3E persists or returns after the applicable basic checks. Have the washer’s model number and the exact displayed code ready. Samsung’s guidance points to support or technical inspection for recurring errors; it does not recommend diagnosing or replacing internal parts from the code alone.
- The code clears and the washer runs normally: Samsung Ukraine says continued use is acceptable after a successful empty cycle.
- The code recurs or will not clear: stop troubleshooting by guessing at parts and arrange service.
Do not open the cabinet, handle internal wiring, or buy a motor, sensor, or control board solely because 3E appeared. Multiple causes can produce the code, and identifying the fault may require model-specific technical inspection.

Can you reset a Samsung washer 3E code?
A mains power-cycle is a reasonable first reset attempt: turn the washer off for 30 seconds, then restart it and a new program. Clearing the display does not confirm the underlying issue is fixed. If 3E returns, use the service guidance above rather than repeatedly resetting the machine.
