Dialog Semiconductor completed its acquisition of Silego Technology on November 1, 2017. The company said the deal would extend its product portfolio and customer reach with Silego’s configurable mixed-signal IC technology, particularly for IoT, computing, and automotive markets.
What happened in the Dialog–Silego deal?
Dialog acquired 100% of Silego’s voting equity interests. In its November 1, 2017 completion announcement, Dialog described Silego as a privately held company headquartered in Santa Clara, California, with approximately 235 employees worldwide. The transaction is now part of Dialog’s corporate history: Renesas completed its acquisition of Dialog on August 31, 2021.
Why did Dialog acquire Silego?
Dialog framed the acquisition as a way to extend its product portfolio and broaden and deepen its customer base. It said Silego’s configurable mixed-signal technology complemented Dialog’s existing mixed-signal offering and could strengthen its presence in IoT, computing, and automotive. Those were Dialog’s stated strategic aims, not independently measured post-acquisition results.
What did Silego make?
Silego developed configurable mixed-signal ICs, or CMICs. These chips combine analog, logic, and discrete component functions in one device, which customers can configure for particular designs. Dialog’s 2017 annual report explained: “CMICs enable customers to customise and integrate multiple analog, logic and discrete component functionality into a single chip which can be prototyped in hours.”

Dialog described the approach as offering design flexibility and potential benefits in board space, supply chain, and time to market. GreenPAK is the trade name identified among Silego’s acquired intangible assets. That historical association does not establish which models, if any, remain available or supported today.
How much did Dialog pay for Silego?
Dialog’s 2019 annual report described the headline consideration as US$276 million on a cash- and debt-free basis, subject to adjustments for cash, debt, and working capital. It also disclosed up to US$30.4 million in revenue-linked contingent consideration, tied to Silego’s 2017 and 2018 revenue.

The headline consideration, completion payment, contingent payments, and later adjustments are distinct measures; they should not be added together or described interchangeably as a single purchase price without explaining their basis.
What happened to Dialog and Silego’s technology later?
Renesas completed its acquisition of Dialog on August 31, 2021. Renesas said the combined portfolio would include Dialog’s configurable mixed-signal expertise. Dialog is therefore not an independent current acquirer; Silego’s technology entered the wider portfolio through Dialog’s acquisition and subsequently became part of Renesas’s corporate history.

The company disclosures establish the transaction, Dialog’s strategic rationale, Silego’s technology description, and the consideration mechanics. They do not establish a Silego-specific market-size figure, quantified post-deal synergies, market-share gain, or independently measured return on the acquisition.
