If you want a conventional one-piece controller for tabletop or TV play and use across several platforms, the 8BitDo Pro 3 is a stronger format match. The M12 Pro advertises Switch 2 features such as wake, the C button and mouse functionality, but those claims have not been independently verified; its official listing also showed it as sold out when checked in 2026.
How the M12 Pro differs from other Switch 2 controllers
The first decision is the shape of the controller, not a claim about which one plays better. MOBAPAD describes the M12 Pro as a split, Joy-Con-style controller that attaches to the console. The 8BitDo Pro 3 and Pro 2 are one-piece pads for use separately from the console. Nintendo’s original Switch Pro Controller is another one-piece option and provides a first-party compatibility baseline.
The M12 Pro’s attached format makes it the option to investigate if you want a dedicated grip for handheld play. A one-piece pad is the more natural fit if you primarily play on a TV or tabletop, or want a controller that also works with other devices. The published specifications do not establish comparative comfort, input quality, latency or reliability.

What Switch 2 features does the M12 Pro advertise?
MOBAPAD’s product FAQ says the M12 Pro is designed for Switch 2 and supports native console wake functionality, the C button and mouse functionality. These are manufacturer statements, not independently confirmed results. MOBAPAD advises users to consult its latest manual and firmware guidance for mouse-mode operation and supported scenarios, so do not assume mouse controls work the same way in every game.

For a buyer, the practical distinction is that the M12 Pro’s stated feature set is unusually focused on Switch 2 use, while the Pro 3 emphasizes a broader one-piece controller design and multi-platform support. The published product pages do not establish which controller has lower latency, more accurate sticks or more reliable connections.
How the controllers compare on controls and connections
MOBAPAD M12 Pro
MOBAPAD lists TMR Glide sticks, mechanical ABXY and D-pad buttons using Omron switches, TTC switches for L/R and TTC micro switches for ZL/ZR, plus two customizable M1/M2 buttons. Its specification list also includes NFC, nine-axis motion sensing, HD2.0 wide-frequency LRA vibration, Bluetooth 5.3 and wired connectivity. It lists Android and iOS app support.
The manufacturer lists an 800mAh lithium-ion battery and estimates 18–20 hours with vibration motors not operating. That condition matters: the figure is not a general estimate for ordinary play with vibration enabled. MOBAPAD also lists magnetic rails at approximately 45N, RGB logo lighting, per-side dimensions of 58.72 × 116 × 47 mm and weight of about 100 g. These are published specifications, not independent measurements.

8BitDo Pro 3
8BitDo lists TMR sticks, Hall Effect triggers with a mode switch, remappable L4/R4 extra bumpers, two back paddles, magnetic swappable ABXY buttons, motion control for Switch and Steam, vibration and three custom profiles. Its listed connection modes for Switch are Bluetooth, 2.4G and wired. The package includes a charging dock and 2.4G adapter, and the controller supports Ultimate Software V2 customization.
8BitDo Pro 2
8BitDo lists Hall Effect sticks, two back paddles, three profiles, Switch motion control, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB-C. It states a 20-hour battery life, but the product information provided here does not specify conditions comparable to MOBAPAD’s vibration-off estimate. Do not treat the two figures as a like-for-like battery test.
Which controllers work beyond Switch 2?
8BitDo lists the Pro 3 for Switch 1 and 2, Windows, Apple devices, SteamOS and Android. It is the clearest choice among these options if cross-platform use is central to the purchase.

8BitDo lists Pro 2 compatibility with Switch 2, Switch, SteamOS, Windows, Android and Apple platforms. For Switch 2 specifically, the maker requires system version 20.1.1 or above. It also states that Switch use does not support HD Rumble or amiibo scanning, a material limitation if those Nintendo-focused features matter to you.
Nintendo says the original Switch Pro Controller works wirelessly with Switch 2 and can be charged from the Switch 2 dock over USB. Nintendo separately cautions that console hardware changes can mean some older Switch games are not fully compatible; that warning concerns games, not a blanket finding about third-party controllers.
Price, availability and purchase timing
When MOBAPAD’s page was checked in 2026, it listed the M12 Pro at $119.99 USD against a stated $129.99 USD regular MSRP and displayed “Sold out.” Its FAQ described preorders through October 28, 2026, with fulfillment planned to begin October 29. MOBAPAD described that as planned fulfillment, not a guaranteed shipping date for an individual order. Check the current listing for price, stock and timing before buying.

MOBAPAD also lists optional MA21 Grip and H12 Carrying Case bundles. Its FAQ says those accessories work with the M12 Pro, M12 HD and M12 S. The product page showed no customer reviews at the time checked, so there is not an established review record on that listing to use as evidence of real-world performance.

Choose the M12 Pro if attached handheld controls are your priority
It is the relevant candidate if you want a split controller that attaches to Switch 2 and are interested in the wake, C-button and mouse-mode features MOBAPAD advertises. Treat those functions as claims to verify against your games and firmware needs rather than as independently tested guarantees. Its listing also needs a fresh stock check.
Choose the Pro 3 if you want a multi-platform one-piece pad
The Pro 3 is the more direct fit for players who prefer a conventional controller and value listed Bluetooth, 2.4G and wired modes, remappable controls and compatibility across Switch 2 and other platforms. Its product page does not provide a basis for declaring it more comfortable, accurate or reliable than the M12 Pro.

Consider the Pro 2 only if its Switch 2 caveats fit your setup
It offers a multi-platform one-piece alternative with back paddles, but confirm that your Switch 2 system is version 20.1.1 or newer and decide whether missing HD Rumble and amiibo scanning support on Switch is acceptable.
Use Nintendo’s Pro Controller as the first-party baseline
If you want a conventional pad with compatibility and charging details documented by Nintendo, the original Switch Pro Controller is a straightforward point of comparison. Its published Switch 2 support should not be used to infer identical behavior from third-party controllers.
