There is no single UK-wide entry format: categories, word limits, attachments, fees and deadlines vary, so check the live rules before drafting or paying.
1. Choose the programme and category
Start with the official category description and eligibility rules—not a generic entry template. Check that the project, organisation and relevant project dates meet the programme’s requirements. For a project award, confirm that the category recognises implemented work and outcomes if that is what you want to enter.
If you are weighing several options, compare them on the points that affect fit and workload:
- How closely the project matches the category’s actual criteria.
- Eligibility dates and any UK connection requirements.
- Whether you have evidence for the outcomes the category asks judges to assess.
- Word limits, permitted file formats and attachment rules.
- Entry fees, possible attendance costs if shortlisted, deadlines and judging stages.
- Whether shortlisted entrants must give a presentation or attend an interview.
These details are set by each organiser; do not assume one programme’s requirements apply to another.

2. Turn the judging criteria into an evidence plan
Read the chosen category’s criteria in full, then make a short outline that answers each one directly. The UK IT Industry Awards advises entrants to address the core components of the criteria, tailor the entry to the category and support claims with facts and figures. Its guidance describes the criteria as “deliberately brief and open in order to be less prescriptive.” That is a reason to explain your project’s relevance clearly, not to leave the case implicit.
A practical drafting table can help you gather material. It is a planning aid, not a claim that every programme uses these criteria; follow the official form if it differs.

For each result, state the baseline, measurement period, units and evidence source where available. This lets judges understand what changed and how the claim was established. Explain the problem, the team’s contribution and the effect on users or the organisation; a list of product features alone does not show project impact.
3. Tailor the entry and prepare the required materials
Write a separate response for each category you enter. Reuse verified facts where appropriate, but reshape the explanation around each category’s criteria rather than submitting unchanged generic copy. Keep supporting material brief and additive: it should substantiate or clarify the written case, not force judges to search for the main argument.

Use the current entry form’s questions and order, and check its word limits, accepted file formats, attachment rules and any restrictions on supporting content before preparing files. Requirements from one award are examples only. For instance, the UK IT Industry Awards’ 2026 project-category guidance specified an 80-word project overview, up to 500 words for each of four criteria, and a summary of up to 250 words. It also allowed video material up to three minutes in relevant project criteria. Those figures apply to that programme’s 2026 guidance, not to UK awards generally.
4. Submit through the official process
Follow the organiser’s own portal or form and complete every mandatory field. The UK IT Industry Awards’ 2026 process, for example, involved creating or accessing a portal account, selecting category entries, answering required questions, optionally adding supporting documents or a video link, entering personal details and paying by card. Other programmes may use different systems or payment steps.

- Open the target programme’s official entry page and verify that the relevant cycle is accepting entries.
- Sign in or create an account if required, then select the intended category or categories.
- Complete the current form in its stated order, observing each field’s limit and instructions.
- Attach only permitted supporting material and check that links or files work.
- Review the entry for missing answers, unsupported claims, category fit and payment details before final submission.
- Save the confirmation or receipt and a copy of the submitted entry.
5. Verify dates and fees for the live cycle
Deadlines and prices are programme-specific and can change by entry period or membership status. The UK IT Industry Awards’ stated final deadline for its 2026 cycle was 11:55pm BST on 19 June 2026; it has passed. The Data & Marketing Association’s published 2026 Awards entry window was 6 July–18 September 2026; it has also passed. Those dates are historical examples, not a current opportunity to enter.
The UK Digital Excellence Awards’ official page listed a separate 2027 schedule. The DMA Awards lists tiered rates by entry period, while the UK IT Industry Awards has its own fees and portal steps. Before acting, check the programme’s live page for the open cycle, exact cutoff and time zone, applicable fee and VAT treatment, and any later-stage costs. Do not rely on an old saved form or last year’s dates.
