If your notes are not syncing, first check that both devices are online and signed into the same account. Then check the note app’s own sync settings and where it sends notes: Google Keep, OneNote, and Samsung Notes use different accounts and sync arrangements. Before clearing app data, reinstalling, signing out, or deleting a copy, protect any edits that may exist only on your Android device.
Start with the note and its destination
Identify the app containing the note and where you expect to see it: another phone, a web app, or a computer. A note can look missing because you opened a different account or destination, not because its contents were deleted. Check the account in the app on both devices and make sure the receiving device is looking in the matching service.
Next, confirm that Android can reach the internet. If the connection is weak, try a reliable Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection and check again. Do not assume that all apps sync over mobile data: OneNote, for example, has a Wi-Fi-only preference.
Check Google Keep
- Confirm that the Android device is online and that Google Keep is signed into the Google Account where the note should be.
- Open Android Settings, go to Accounts, select the relevant Google Account, and check that Keep sync is enabled. The exact menu names can vary by Android version and device maker; Google’s account-sync instructions note that some steps apply only to Android 14 and later. Google Keep’s Android troubleshooting guide has the relevant steps.
- Update Google Keep through the app store if an update is available, then allow time for notes to reload on a strong connection. Google notes that a reload may take time; it does not promise an instant return of every note.
- If the missing note was shared, confirm that its owner still shares it with the Google Account you are using. Google identifies a different account or sharing that has stopped as possible reasons you may not have access.
If Keep reports conflicting edits
Keep can show a conflict when a note was edited offline on more than one device; a weak Wi-Fi connection can also trigger the notice. Review the available versions and choose the one you want, or keep both if you are unsure. Do not discard a version until you have checked whether it contains unique edits.

Check Microsoft OneNote
- Confirm that the Android device is connected and that the notebook is open under the intended Microsoft account.
- In OneNote for Android, open the Notebooks area and use Settings to select Sync all. The route can vary by app version. Microsoft says OneNote normally syncs automatically as you move between notes and sections; its notebook-sync instructions describe the manual option.
- In OneNote settings, check Sync Notebooks on Wifi only if you expect changes to sync over mobile data. If Wi-Fi-only syncing is enabled, mobile data alone may not sync the notebook.
- Inspect any red sync icon or error message for its specific details. For a OneDrive-hosted notebook, Microsoft also recommends checking OneDrive service health. Its general sync troubleshooting page includes Windows-specific directions; do not apply those Windows steps as though they were Android instructions.
If notes appear in Misplaced Sections as read-only
Microsoft documents a particular Android update issue that can place unsynced copies in read-only Misplaced Sections. This is a specialized recovery case, not the assumed cause of ordinary sync trouble. Compare the copy with the editable original and manually transfer any unique edits into the original. Check which Samsung Notes sync you mean
Samsung Notes has two distinct routes that can be easy to confuse. One syncs notes with Samsung Cloud through a Samsung account, typically across Galaxy devices. Another sends selected Samsung Notes folders to the Microsoft OneNote feed. First decide which destination you expect to contain the note, then check the corresponding account and sync setup.

Samsung Cloud across Galaxy devices
For notes expected on another Galaxy device, check that Samsung Notes is using the intended Samsung account and that Samsung Notes sync with Samsung Cloud is enabled. Samsung’s Samsung Notes features and settings guide covers its settings.
Selected folders in the Microsoft OneNote feed
For notes expected in the OneNote feed, sign in to Microsoft in the Samsung Notes integration, select the folders to sync, and enable syncing. This feed is not an editable replacement for the Samsung Notes app: Samsung says feed notes cannot be edited or removed from Samsung Notes through the OneNote feed. If the missing item is an AI-translated PDF overlay, Samsung documents a specific limitation: those overlays do not support synchronization, sharing, saving, or backup and restore. This restriction concerns that type of overlay, not Samsung Notes syncing generally.

Before clearing app data, reinstalling, signing out, or deleting a duplicate, establish whether the important changes exist in the cloud or in another editable copy. If you cannot confirm that, preserve the local note and copy its contents somewhere safe before making changes. For OneNote’s read-only Misplaced Sections case, compare versions and transfer unique edits into the editable original before removing a copy.

If the account, connection, and app-specific settings are correct but syncing still fails, check the app provider’s current service-status or support information. Service availability and app menus can change, and there is no universal sync time that applies to every Android note app.
