To submit a post to DZone, sign in, choose Post an Article, complete the editor, save a copy, then send the draft to moderation. DZone reviews submissions before publication; submitting one does not guarantee it will be published.
Before you start: check that your article fits DZone
DZone is looking for practical content for software-development professionals. Its current Article Submission Guidelines rule out content aimed at audiences such as marketing, sales, finance, or healthcare, and say not to submit material intended to advertise a product. A product mention may be relevant to a technical explanation, but the article should serve readers rather than function as an ad.
- Length: The current guideline page requires at least 800 words. Meeting the minimum does not ensure acceptance; DZone may reject an article that lacks adequate coverage or value.
- Originality and sourcing: Submit original ideas in clear English, with correct grammar and formatting. Cite external material appropriately. DZone warns that plagiarism may lead to suspension.
- AI use: DZone’s February 2026 guidelines state that articles partially or fully created using AI tools such as ChatGPT are not allowed. Follow that published rule for the submission.
- Images: Use images you own or have permission to use. DZone recommends compressing each image to 100–200 KB and sets a 5 MB total image limit per article.
Use a personal DZone profile with your real name, valid email address, and job title; the guidelines say not to use a company account or logo. If you are submitting on someone else’s behalf, that author needs a DZone account so they can receive credit.
Submit your post through the DZone editor
- Create an account or sign in. Start at Become a DZone Contributor if you need account or contributor information.
- Open the article editor. Choose Post an Article. DZone’s submission walkthrough and Writers Zone use this label.
- Complete the article fields. Add a title, summary, body, author information, relevant topics, and any images. Include source information or citations where applicable. Check that the article is attributed to the correct author; the credited author must have a DZone account.
- Save the draft as you work. Keep a separate copy on your own device. DZone advises contributors to do this because a draft may not be recoverable if it is rejected or account access is lost.
- Send the draft to moderation. Open the dropdown beside the draft or save control and choose Send to Moderation or Submit to Moderation. DZone’s pages use both labels, so select the moderation option shown in your editor.
What happens after submission
DZone’s editorial team reviews the article and may ask for changes. If it fits, DZone says it will schedule the article and notify the writer by email. The current guidelines page reports review times of 30 business days because of high submission volume; this is an estimate on the page, not a guaranteed turnaround. Check the current guidelines for any updates.

Optional: find a topic through Writer’s Repo
If you need an idea, DZone’s Writer’s Repo lists editorially curated prompts. You can choose a topic, comment to claim it, then write and submit it for moderation. This is an optional route; you can also submit an article you developed independently.
DZone describes contributor benefits such as exposure, editorial feedback, promotion, and access to paid writing opportunities. Its Core Program page says Core members are preferred when DZone selects authors for paid writing work, with membership determined at DZone staff discretion. A regular article submission is not a promise of payment.
