Check a Warcraft listing against Blizzard’s own announcement, then verify who is actually selling it and what the order promises. A convincing page, a padlock icon, or a marketplace name does not prove that the seller is authorized or that the listing is genuine.
Start with Blizzard’s announcement—not the listing
Open Blizzard’s official World of Warcraft news or Battle.net shop by typing the address yourself or using a saved bookmark. Avoid reaching a supposed announcement through an unexpected email, Discord message, or social post.

Find the announcement for the exact release or edition you are considering. Details for one Warcraft product do not automatically apply to another. Compare the listing against the announcement on these points:

- Contents: Match physical items and any digital codes or bonuses. Do not assume a code is included unless the official notice says so.
- Region: Check that the stated territory matches the announcement and that any digital code or product can be used where you live.
- Dates and limits: Compare launch, preorder, shipping, and delivery claims, plus any purchase limit.
- Seller: Identify the business or individual that will take your payment. On a marketplace, the marketplace and the individual seller are not the same thing.
Blizzard’s announcement may identify distribution channels without validating every seller using them. A marketplace listing—or a seller on a named platform—is not proof of authorization by itself.

Check the seller, price, and purchase terms
Before paying, assess the complete offer, not just the headline price. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recommends checking the seller, reading fine print, and treating unusually low prices on expensive branded goods as a possible warning sign of counterfeit or stolen merchandise. Its guidance is U.S.-focused; consumer protections and remedies vary by location.
- Price: Add shipping, handling, and taxes. A striking discount can be a reason to investigate, not a reason to rush.
- Condition and contents: Read whether the item is new, used, opened, or missing components, and check exactly what is included.
- Delivery and cancellation: Look for a specific shipping promise, the return or refund policy, and any cancellation conditions before checkout.
- Seller reputation: Search the seller or product name with “complaint” or “scam.” Read reviews across multiple sources critically; ratings and reviews can be fake or misleading.
- Payment method: Prefer a method with a dispute process. The FTC says credit-card protections may apply in specified cases, including goods that never arrive or are wrong or defective. Avoid sellers who insist on gift cards, wire transfers, payment apps, or cryptocurrency.
HTTPS encrypts information sent between your browser and a website; it does not establish that the seller is legitimate, that the site belongs to Blizzard, or that the seller is authorized. A padlock and a secure-looking URL are not authenticity checks.

Use the Forever Collector’s Edition as a date-sensitive example
Blizzard’s September 24, 2026 announcement describes additional English versions of the World of Warcraft: Forever Collector’s Edition. It says purchasing begins as early as that date, with timing varying by retailer, and identifies North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand as regions. The announcement names the Blizzard Gear Store and retailers in those regions; it does not establish that every retailer, marketplace, or individual marketplace seller is authorized.

Blizzard stated a limit of one copy per household for Blizzard Gear Store orders. The edition includes physical collectibles and a digital code for the Warcraft Forever Collection, with the digital contents specified in the announcement. Inventory, retailer participation, and delivery estimates can change, so check Blizzard’s live notice before buying.

These details do not confirm Amazon availability or authorize any specific Amazon seller. Apply the same rule to any marketplace: verify the exact listing and the identity of the seller taking payment rather than inferring authorization from the platform.
Recognize Warcraft phishing and impersonation attempts
In its September 29, 2026 phishing guidance, Blizzard warns that scammers may pose as Game Masters, support staff, or guild members, or use lures such as beta access and other special offers. Warning signs include urgent threats of account penalties or closure, requests for account information, misleading links, and poor grammar. A message can also use a spoofed return address, so a familiar-looking sender name is not enough; inspect the actual destination before interacting.

Blizzard gives specific indicators for in-game contacts: genuine employee mail carries a Blizzard logo, while genuine Game Master whispers have a blue Blizz tag and appear in a special chat box. A name containing “[GM]” or Blizzard-like wording is not proof. Use the in-game Report Player controls to report suspicious mail or chat.
Discord branding is easy to imitate. Blizzard Customer Support representative Vrakthris wrote on September 29, 2026: “Blizzard employees will never ask for your password or ask you to provide your account credentials through Discord.” Do not give credentials or follow links from someone claiming to be a Blizzard employee. Confirm the claim through Blizzard’s own channels instead.

If you already clicked, shared details, or paid
If you clicked a suspicious message
Stop interacting with the message, and do not enter credentials or payment details on a page it opened. Blizzard recommends reporting suspicious email as spam to your email provider; email headers can help identify where a message originated. Use Blizzard’s in-game reporting options for suspicious mail or chat. If a Discord account claims to represent Blizzard, block or report it as appropriate and verify the claim independently.
If you placed an order and something went wrong
Save the listing, seller name and website, order confirmation, order date, amount, stated delivery date, return policy, messages, and payment records. Contact the seller or site owner first to try to resolve the problem. The FTC also accepts reports at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. If a credit-card purchase was not delivered or the goods were wrong or defective, contact the card issuer promptly to ask about disputing the charge. Available rights depend on your location, payment method, and the purchase details.
If a third-party digital preorder is involved
Blizzard’s online terms say that buyers who purchase digital content, including a pre-purchase or preorder, from a third-party retailer should contact that retailer about withdrawal options. That clause concerns third-party digital purchases; it should not be treated as a rule for a physical Collector’s Edition or as a complete statement of local consumer rights. Rules for direct Blizzard purchases are distinct and may vary by region and whether access has begun.
