Junior also supports some other documents, so it is not just a school-ID feature—but official guidance does not provide a complete feature-by-feature comparison with the standard app.
What students can use in mObywatel Junior
Digital school ID
The digital school ID is Junior’s main student use case. It confirms student status and can support discounts or other entitlements where the relevant provider accepts it. The ID can be stored in the student’s Junior space or added by a parent or guardian to their own mObywatel app. Official mObywatel school ID guidance
Other documents announced for Junior
In February 2026, the Ministry of Digital Affairs announced that Junior also supports the Large Family Card and a temporary electronic driving licence. The temporary licence is valid for 30 days after passing the driving exam and may be used only in Poland, subject to the conditions in the ministry’s announcement. This does not mean every student is eligible for a licence.
How Junior differs from the standard mObywatel app
Junior is a student-oriented space within the mObywatel app, while the standard app is described by the government more broadly as a place for digital documents and public services. The available official guidance establishes that students can use the school ID through Junior and that parents can keep a child’s ID in their own app. It does not provide a complete, current inventory comparing every feature or service in the two experiences. Avoid assuming Junior has fewer functions in every respect, or that students cannot use other mObywatel services.

What students need to add a school ID
- Check the school’s records. The school needs to enter the student’s data and photograph in the Education Information System (SIO) and provide access to the Zintegrowana Platforma Edukacyjna (ZPE). If the ID cannot be retrieved, school records or ZPE access may be the issue. Ministry of National Education guidance
- Open mObywatel and select Junior. Junior is part of the mObywatel app flow; the launch guidance says activation does not require a Profil Zaufany. This includes students under 13 who do not have one.
- Retrieve the code in ZPE. Sign in to ZPE and use the school-ID QR code or its 32-character UUID to add the document in Junior. A parent or guardian can use the QR code on the student’s ZPE page to add the ID to their own mObywatel app.
- Add it to the devices that need it. The Ministry of National Education says the ID can be added independently on up to five mobile devices belonging to the student and their parents or guardians. This is a device limit for the ID, not five student accounts.
- Check the app version. The school-ID service page specifies mObywatel version 4.66.0 or later. The February 2026 announcement specifies version 4.75.0 or later for the newly added documents. These are release-specific requirements; check the live service guidance if an option is missing.
Can the digital school ID work offline?
Yes. Official service guidance says a school ID that has already been added can be used without internet access. That statement applies to presenting the stored ID; it does not establish that activation, retrieving the QR code, refreshing the document, or every other app service works offline. Acceptance for a discount or entitlement also depends on the applicable provider’s rules.

How widely was Junior rolled out?
In its September 18, 2025 launch announcement, the Ministry of National Education said the rollout made digital school IDs available to nearly 5 million students. The ministry contrasted that with about 180,000 students who had previously had digital school-ID access, mainly through institutions working with the Ministry of Digital Affairs. These are rollout figures from the announcement, not current counts of active users.
