Newegg’s GPU trade-in program lets eligible customers trade an older graphics card toward a qualifying new purchase on Newegg. The offer is model-specific and subject to inspection: the amount shown is only an estimate until Newegg receives and reviews the card. The program launched in 2023 and has since expanded to CPUs and qualifying desktop memory, but the current terms are not necessarily the terms that applied at launch.
What Newegg announced—and what the program covers now
Newegg says its GPU Trade-In Program launched in 2023. The company introduced a CPU trade-in program in 2024, and its March 19, 2026 release describes a further expansion to eligible desktop memory, including qualifying DDR4 and DDR5 kits. Those dates describe the program’s expansion, not the original GPU offer’s exact launch day or terms. Newegg framed the memory addition as a way to help customers apply trade-in value toward newer hardware. Newegg’s announcement quotes Andrew Choi, Head of Growth Programs, saying the company aims to make upgrading PC hardware easier and more accessible.
The current program includes eligible GPUs, CPUs, and desktop memory. This article focuses on the GPU path; an eligible GPU may also be applied toward a gaming desktop or laptop when the new product page displays a trade-in module. Newegg says CPU trade-ins are not currently accepted toward gaming PCs. Check Newegg’s current program page for the applicable category and terms.
How does Newegg GPU trade-in work?
- Find an eligible new product. Start on a Newegg product page with a trade-in module, and check that the old GPU model is on Newegg’s eligible list. Eligibility is not guaranteed just because a card is a GPU.
- Enter the old card’s model and condition. Use the exact model number shown on the card or its original box. Newegg provides an estimated value based on the submitted details.
- Accept the estimate and add both items to the cart. The qualifying new product and the trade-in must be included in the order. Complete checkout through Newegg.
- Ship the old GPU with Newegg’s prepaid UPS label. The current flow requires shipment within 14 days of receiving the label. Package the card securely and send only the item covered by the trade-in order.
- Wait for inspection and credit. Newegg checks the received card. If accepted, it credits the associated order; its current guide says refunds are generally issued to the original payment method, although some may be issued as a Newegg Gift Card. How do I know if my item is eligible for trade-in?
Eligibility depends on the exact model, not just the GPU brand or product family. Check Newegg’s eligible-model list and the trade-in module on the specific new product page before placing an order. Confirm the model number against the card itself or its box; an incorrect model entry can affect the offer or result in rejection. Newegg requires an account and a valid shipping address in the contiguous United States. Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories are excluded under the current program terms. How much will I get for my trade-in?
The trade-in module shows a model-specific estimate, not a guaranteed payout. Newegg says values vary with the model, specifications, and market conditions, and it cannot confirm the final value until it receives the card. It may revise or cancel an offer if the displayed value is inaccurate or the inspection does not support the submitted details. Because the live values can change, check the current offer for your exact model instead of relying on a past example.
Before accepting, compare that live estimate with the net amount you expect from another selling route, accounting for its fees, shipping, and effort. Newegg does not publish a current like-for-like comparison with resale marketplaces, so the program cannot be assumed to pay more or to be the best choice for every seller.

What does Newegg inspect?
Newegg’s inspection considers whether the card matches the model submitted and whether it is in acceptable working and physical condition. Its listed checks include damage, dust or dirt, missing parts, corrosion, serial number, ports and fans, unusual noise, operating temperature, and benchmark performance. The estimate remains conditional until this review is complete. Newegg’s terms explain the inspection criteria and possible outcomes.
How long does the trade-in process take?
Ship the card within 14 days of receiving the prepaid label; Newegg says a late shipment may lead it to revise or withdraw the estimate. After receipt, Newegg says inspection generally takes 10–15 business days. If the trade-in is approved, allow another 3–5 business days for credit. These are the timings stated on Newegg’s current program page, not a guarantee for every order.

What happens if Newegg rejects the GPU?
Newegg’s current terms generally provide for rejected items to be returned free, but exceptions apply. Its trade-in guide includes additional terms for counterfeit, undeliverable, extra, damaged, incomplete, or incorrect items. Read the current return and inspection terms before shipping, especially if the GPU’s identity or condition is uncertain. Newegg’s knowledge-base guide describes the relevant exceptions.

- Verify that both the old GPU model and the new product are eligible on Newegg’s live pages.
- Compare the current estimate with the likely net proceeds of selling elsewhere.
- Consider the possibility of an adjusted offer or rejection after inspection.
- Make sure you can meet the 14-day shipping window and the contiguous-U.S. address requirement.
- Back up and remove personal data if applicable, then package the card securely.
- Remember that each trade-in order covers one device. Newegg requires separate orders for multiple devices.
The offer is tied to the qualifying Newegg product page and associated order. Buying a GPU from another retailer does not, by itself, qualify for Newegg trade-in credit.
