These controls do different things: searching finds a show, ratings give Netflix preference feedback, hiding viewing activity removes it from recommendation signals, and My List saves it for later.
How do I find reality shows on Netflix?
Open Netflix and select Search in the app or on the website. Search for a specific reality show, a genre or category term, or a relevant name. Netflix says search can find titles by name, genre, original language, and other details. If the homepage’s personalized rows do not surface a show you expect, searching is the more direct way to look for it. See Netflix’s search and browse guidance.
A title may not appear because it is not in the catalog available to your region, or because of the profile’s maturity rating or language settings. Those settings can affect what Netflix displays, so check them if a title is missing.
If Netflix’s TV menu looks different
On Netflix’s newer TV layout, shortcuts such as TV Shows, Movies, My Netflix, and profiles appear in a top menu. Netflix says the Categories shortcut was removed in that layout; use Search or browse homepage rows such as New on Netflix and Top 10 instead. The rollout depends on the device, so follow the menu shown on your TV. Netflix describes the update in its TV experience and layout guide.

Natural-language search is an experimental option
Netflix documents a limited, opt-in natural-language search beta for a small group of iPhone and iPad members. Eligible members can describe what they want in their own words, refine results, and send feedback. This is not a feature available to every member or device. How Netflix decides which reality shows to recommend
Netflix personalizes which rows appear on a profile, which titles are included, and the order of titles within a row. It says its recommendations use signals including what a member watches and rates, whether they finish titles, and the preferences of members with similar tastes. Title details such as genre, categories, actors, and release year also matter. Netflix additionally names time of day, preferred languages, device, and how long a member watched as inputs; it says demographic information such as age and gender is not used for recommendations.

Recent activity can outweigh older activity. Netflix says starts, completions, and ratings feed ongoing updates to its predictions, but this high-level explanation does not guarantee where any particular reality show will appear. Netflix’s recommendation-system explanation says the strongest recommendations are placed toward the beginning of each row. For Arabic or Hebrew system languages, the row is ordered from right to left.
Which Netflix control should I use?

How do I get Netflix to recommend more reality shows?
Rate reality shows you watch so Netflix has direct feedback about the profile’s preferences. Netflix currently offers Like, Love this!, and Not for me; it says ratings help it recommend shows and movies. Rating a show is a preference signal, not a promise that every recommendation row will change immediately or in a specific way. See Netflix’s rating instructions.

Netflix also considers viewing activity, including starts and completions, and says more recent activity can carry more weight than older activity. There is no documented guarantee that repeatedly searching for reality shows alone will change your recommendations.
How do I remove a show from Netflix recommendations?
Hide the title from the profile’s viewing activity. Netflix says a hidden title will not be used for recommendations unless it is watched again. It will also stop appearing as watched and be removed from Continue Watching. In a browser, use this path:

- Open Account.
- Choose Profiles, then select the relevant profile.
- Open Viewing activity.
- Find the episode or title and select its hide control. When hiding an episode, Netflix may offer the option to hide the entire series.
Netflix says the change can take up to 24 hours to take effect across all devices, and that hiding viewing activity cannot be done from a Netflix Kids profile. See the viewing-history instructions for current controls.
Remove a title from Continue Watching without hiding it
If you only want to tidy the Continue Watching row, use Remove From Row or Remove from Continue Watching where that action is available on a supported computer, TV, or current mobile app. This removes the row item; use Viewing activity’s hide control when your goal is to keep a title out of recommendation signals. Older app versions may require you to manage it through Viewing activity.

How do I save reality shows to My List?
Add a show to My List to keep it for later. Netflix says a profile can store up to 2,000 shows and movies. A title may disappear from the list if it leaves Netflix or is unavailable in your region. List navigation varies across TV, web, and mobile; the mobile app also offers filters and sorting. See Netflix’s My List guide.
