Gears of War: E-Day makes reloading a tactical choice: some weapons can be loaded a shell at a time, letting you fire before a full reload is complete. Active Reload can reward good timing, but a poor attempt can jam the weapon. Ammo and weapon mods also depend on whether you are playing Campaign, Horde Siege, or Versus.
How Active Reload and round-by-round loading work
Active Reload returns with an updated system. In the gameplay demo, its indicator appears where the player aims. The Coalition creative director Matt Searcy explained on the Official Xbox Podcast that some weapons load individual shells, and that you can interrupt the reload to fire a shell already loaded. That trades a smaller clip for getting a shot out quickly when there is no time to finish reloading.
The July 31, 2026 gameplay update names the Gnasher and Breechshot as weapons with this round-by-round system. You can load one or two rounds and fire rather than wait for the entire reload cycle.
Reload timing brings risk and reward
The August 25, 2026 Campaign preview says a well-timed Perfect Reload speeds up the next round, while a poorly timed attempt can jam the gun. Searcy also described Active Reload as carrying a risk of jamming and the possibility of extra damage. These are descriptions of the mechanic, not a published universal damage bonus: no specific multiplier or timing window is established in the cited materials.

Gnasher capacity
The Coalition says the Gnasher holds six shells, reduced from the previous eight, to balance the new hot-reload option. With fewer shells available, the ability to load and fire partway through a reload becomes part of managing the weapon rather than simply waiting for a full clip.
How ammo and weapon mods differ by mode
Campaign
In the Campaign, supply caches around the city can refill ammunition, let you change your loadout, and equip weapon mods, according to the Xbox Campaign preview. They are therefore both resupply points and places to adjust your weapons.

Horde Siege
Horde Siege includes weapon mods that alter guns and armor mods that can affect ammo reserves. The official multiplayer deep dive says players unlock mods through class progression and Weapon Parts. The material does not specify a universal reserve increase, so the effect depends on the mod.
Versus
Versus does not use weapon mods. The developer says all players begin with the same loadout weapons and equipment, unlike the mod systems described for Campaign and Horde Siege.

What the published weapon details tell you
The official gameplay update describes several weapon characteristics, but these are not a full damage ranking. The practical comparisons supported by the published details are reload flexibility, stated burst or capacity, firing behavior, and range or recoil:

Is there a complete weapon damage chart?
No complete numeric weapon damage chart is set out in the official materials cited here. They do not provide damage values by weapon, range, enemy, or hit location, or universal reload windows and damage multipliers. The Breechshot’s one-shot headshot kill is a specific PvP claim, not a general damage formula. Treat other descriptions—such as extra damage from Active Reload—as qualitative unless the developer publishes exact figures for a particular weapon and mode. Later balance changes may also alter the mechanics, so newer official patch notes would take precedence.
