If you want a Nike retro-running look for everyday wear, start by comparing the P-6000, Zoom Vomero 5, V5 RNR, Air Pegasus 2005 and V2K Run. Nike currently groups these models in its US “Retro Running Lifestyle” category, but that category is not a tested ranking—and it does not establish that any of them is suited to regular running. The P-6000 is the clearest choice to assess from the available product details: Nike documents its materials and Pegasus-inspired design, but not a comparative comfort or fit advantage.
Which Nike retro-running shoes should you compare?
Nike’s US Retro Running Lifestyle category is a useful shortlist, not a verdict on which shoe feels best. It includes the P-6000, Zoom Vomero 5, V5 RNR, Air Pegasus 2005 and V2K Run, among other models. The lineup and availability can change over time.
| Model | What the available information establishes | What to check before buying |
|---|---|---|
| P-6000 | Nike says the design draws on the 2006 Air Pegasus and early-2000s running style. Its product listing specifies mesh or textile, synthetic leather overlays, a foam midsole and rubber outsole. | Confirm the material details for the exact colorway, then check fit, intended use and current price on its listing. |
| Zoom Vomero 5 | Listed in Nike’s US Retro Running Lifestyle category. | Check its current product page for construction, fit guidance, intended use and price. |
| V5 RNR | Listed in Nike’s US Retro Running Lifestyle category. | Check its current product page for construction, fit guidance, intended use and price. |
| Air Pegasus 2005 | Listed in Nike’s US Retro Running Lifestyle category. | Check its current product page for construction, fit guidance, intended use and price. |
| V2K Run | Listed in Nike’s US Retro Running Lifestyle category. | Check its current product page for construction, fit guidance, intended use and price. |
Nike’s category establishes that these are current candidates for a lifestyle comparison; it does not supply equivalent technical details or independent wear tests for every model. Treat the table as a starting point for checking individual listings, not as a quality ranking.

The P-6000 has the most specific documented connection to older Nike running shoes in this shortlist. Nike says it draws on the 2006 Air Pegasus and identifies inspiration from the Pegasus 25 and Pegasus 2006 in its product copy. That is useful context if you like the look of early-2000s running shoes; it does not make the P-6000 a reissue of those models or establish how it performs on a run.
#1 Best Overall
- Wide collar opening captures the proportions of '70s running style.
- Single-piece injected midsole adds flexibility.
- Flex grooves in outsole for all-day comfort.
- IM4006-003
Nike lists a breathable mesh or textile upper with synthetic leather overlays, a foam midsole and a rubber outsole. Those details help describe the shoe’s construction for daily wear: an airy-looking upper, layered exterior and foam underfoot. They are not proof of a particular comfort level, durability, traction or fit. Check the listing for the precise version you plan to buy, because materials and availability may differ across styles.
How to choose for everyday wear
- Decide whether you want a lifestyle shoe or a regular running shoe. Nike’s category uses both Lifestyle and Running labels, but that alone does not show that each listed model is designed for sustained running. If you need a shoe for regular training, verify its intended use on the product page rather than relying on its retro-running appearance.
- Compare upper materials for your priorities. Mesh and textile are specified for the P-6000 listing; equivalent details are not established here for all the other candidates. Review each model’s current listing if breathability or overlays matter to you.
- Assess cushioning and outsole from the specific product page. The P-6000 listing identifies a foam midsole and rubber outsole. The available category information does not provide comparable cushioning or traction evidence across models.
- Check sizing and fit guidance for the exact shoe. No comparative fit testing establishes which model runs true to size or suits a particular foot shape. Use the listing’s sizing advice and the retailer’s return terms; do not assume one model’s fit predicts another’s.
- Compare the exact colorway, size and price. A US Nike category and product page are snapshots, not guarantees that a particular style or size remains in stock. Check the live listing before purchasing.
What do the current price details tell you?
At the time the US pages were accessed, Nike’s category showed different prices across models, and an individual P-6000 listing displayed $115. These are snapshots, not lasting prices or a like-for-like value comparison: the exact style, colorway, size, stock and price may change. Check the current Nike category and the individual listing before you buy.

Why Pegasus history matters—and what it does not prove
The P-6000’s Pegasus connection sits within a long-running shoe lineage. Nike’s company history says Pegasus sales had reached 2.5 million pairs by 1985; that is a historical milestone, not a current sales figure or evidence of present-day popularity.
Nike also attributes a fond recollection of the Pegasus ’89 to former Nike Running leader Kevin Paulk: “If you asked loyal Pegasus wearers through the years what their favourite version has been, I would be willing to bet a lot of people would say the Peg ’89. It had a nice soft upper and fit like a glove”. The remark is about the Pegasus ’89, not a review of today’s P-6000.
