To limit what one app can access, open Settings > Apps > [app] > Permissions, choose a permission, and select the least access level that still lets you use the feature you need. To review several apps at once, open Permission manager and check apps by permission category. Menu names vary by Android version and phone maker; if you cannot find a setting, search Settings for “Permissions.”
Change permissions for one app
- Open Settings on your Android phone.
- Tap Apps, then select the app you want to review. If it is not listed, tap the option to see all apps.
- Tap Permissions.
- Select a permission, such as Camera, Microphone, Location, or Contacts, and choose an available access level. The page shows permissions you have allowed or denied.
Google’s Android permission help describes these controls. Depending on the permission, app, and Android version, options may include Allow only while using the app, Ask every time, or Don’t allow.
Review every app with a permission
Use Permission manager when you want to audit a category across your phone rather than change one app in isolation. Open Settings > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Permission manager, or look under Privacy > Permission manager. Select a category such as Camera or Contacts to see which apps have access, then open an app to adjust it.
Android 13 and newer may combine Security and Privacy settings. Android 12 and earlier may show separate Security and Privacy settings. Exact paths vary by device, so search Settings for “Permission manager” or “Permissions” if the labels differ. Google outlines the version-dependent menu organization in its Android security and privacy settings guide.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
| Approach | Best for | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| App-first | Restricting a particular app | Open the app’s Permissions page and change the relevant access. |
| Permission-first | Auditing a category across apps | Open Permission manager, choose a permission category, and review listed apps. |
Choose the narrowest access that works
Permission options differ by feature. For camera and microphone, you may be able to allow use only while you are using the app, ask each time, or deny access. For location, choose an access duration and, where available, decide separately whether the app can use precise location.
Limit location access
Location has more than one control. The access scope determines when an app can get location: options may include All the time, Allow only while using the app, Ask every time, or Don’t allow. Background access is different from access while the app is in use.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Precision determines how specific the location can be. On supported devices and apps, you can turn off precise location while leaving approximate location available. For example, a weather app may work with approximate location, while a feature that guides you to a nearby place may need more precision. The available choices depend on the app and device. See Google’s location-permission guidance.
Check which apps recently used permissions
Privacy Dashboard shows which apps used selected permissions and when. Open Settings > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Privacy dashboard, or find Privacy dashboard under Privacy. Select a permission category to view its activity history and the apps involved. The history period documented by Google differs by Android version: Android 13 shows the last seven days, while Android 12 shows the last 24 hours. See Google’s Privacy Dashboard instructions for the dashboard route and version details.

Automatically remove access from apps you stop using
For apps you may forget to revisit, check their unused-app controls. Open Settings > Apps > [app] > Unused app settings, then enable Pause app activity if unused if that option is available. Android can automatically remove permissions from unused apps. The setting’s availability and wording can vary by version and device; Google documents it in its app-permission help. Android 11 also introduced one-time camera, microphone, and location permissions and permission auto-reset for qualifying unused apps, as described in the Android 11 developer documentation.
Use Google Play privacy information as one input
An app’s Google Play Data safety section and its Android permissions list describe different things. Data safety is based on information developers declare about their data practices; the permissions list shows technical access an app requests or has been granted. The two can differ, and Data safety applies to apps distributed through Google Play. Google explains the distinction in its Data safety guide.

If an app stops working after you restrict it
Some features will not work without the permission they need—for example, a video call cannot use the camera if camera access is denied. Return to Settings > Apps > [app] > Permissions and grant access only for the feature you want to use. An app’s request alone does not mean it needs every permission it asks for.
Pause before changing a sensitive setting just because an app unexpectedly demands it. Google Android Help warns that “Harmful apps might ask you to change settings that put your device or data at risk.” Verify the app and why the setting is needed before proceeding; see Google’s guide to restricted settings.
