Build the dashboard by keeping trusted query and authentication work in Node.js, then use React either to embed a ready-made analytics workspace or to assemble a custom interface. QueryPanel’s SDKs document both approaches: the Node backend holds the private workspace key, establishes tenant context, and runs queries; React receives only the data and credentials it needs for the selected UI.
Choose an embedded dashboard or a custom React interface
QueryPanel is one documented example of a hosted query API, not the only provider or a market-wide recommendation. Its React SDK supports two implementation paths. Choose based on how much of the analytics experience you want to build and control.
| Approach | What React uses | Best fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Embedded dashboard | QuerypanelEmbedded, a dashboard ID, API base URL, and a short-lived tenant JWT minted by your server |
A product that should expose a complete analytics workspace without building each dashboard control | Less work assembling the interface, but less control over layout than a fully custom UI. The embed supports options such as customer customization and themes/branding. |
| Custom React UI | QueryPanelProvider and components such as QueryInput, QueryResult, VegaChart, and DataTable |
A product that needs its own page layout, query flow, and explicit loading, empty, and error states | More control over presentation, with more UI construction and state handling to implement. |
Both paths pair React with server-side Node work; neither requires placing a private workspace key in browser code. The provider-specific guides describe setup and available options: QueryPanel React SDK and QueryPanel React embed guide.
Set up the Node.js backend and database
Install and configure the Node SDK
The documented package is @querypanel/node-sdk; its reference lists Node.js 18+ as a supported runtime. Configure the client on the server with the hosted API URL, private key, and workspace or organization ID, loading credentials from server-side environment configuration. Do not include the private key in React code or any asset delivered to the browser. See the QueryPanel Node SDK reference.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Connect the database and sync its schema
Use a supported database adapter to attach your database; the Node reference demonstrates PostgreSQL and ClickHouse patterns. Sync schema metadata during connection/setup and repeat the sync after table or column changes. This provides the query service with table and column information; it is setup or deployment work, not something to run for each user request.
Establish tenant isolation from trusted identity
Derive the tenant ID from the application’s authenticated backend context—not from an unverified browser parameter. Pass that tenant context into query and token flows, and configure the database tenant field and isolation behavior, including settings such as tenantFieldName and enforceTenantIsolation where applicable. Tenant scope is a data-access boundary, not merely a filter for tidier charts. Vendor configuration documentation is not an independent security audit; test that one tenant cannot retrieve another tenant’s data as part of your own security review. The Node reference and repository examples document these settings: Node SDK reference, Node SDK repository.

Build the authenticated server-to-React flow
For an embedded workspace, mint a tenant JWT on the server
- Authenticate the application user. Resolve the user’s authorized tenant on the Node backend before issuing a dashboard token.
- Create a short-lived tenant JWT. Use the server-side SDK and trusted tenant context in the authenticated backend route. Keep the private workspace key on the server.
- Return only the embed inputs React needs. Supply the dashboard ID, API base URL, and minted token to
QuerypanelEmbedded; do not send the private key. - Render loading and failure states. Use the embed’s
onLoadandonErrorcallbacks to distinguish a successful load from a failed one.
QueryPanel’s embed documentation describes this division: “Your workspace private key stays on the server; the browser only receives a short-lived tenant JWT.” This is the vendor’s description of its intended flow, not a separate security verification. The React SDK reference likewise describes Bearer-token API requests and server-side tenant-scoped token creation.
For a custom UI, call the query API from the backend
Use the Node SDK’s ask() flow with the user’s question, tenant ID, and database name. The response can include generated SQL, parameters, rows, and a Vega-Lite chart specification. Pass the authorized result to your React application and compose the interface with the provider and chart/table components; do not make a private-key query call directly from the browser.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
In either path, retain tenant authorization at the server boundary. A dashboard ID or a hidden React control does not replace checking which tenant the authenticated user is allowed to access.
Render query results and persist dashboard tiles
Compose custom dashboard states
With the provider-based path, arrange QueryInput, QueryResult, VegaChart, and DataTable to match your product’s layout. Make loading, no-results, and error states explicit. A failed query is not an empty result: surface the error rather than showing an empty chart as if the request succeeded.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Save and reload pinned charts
For dashboards built around saved tiles, save charts and pin the ones that should be active. The Node reference describes retrieving active charts with tenant context; use withData: true when loading chart data, or listAllActiveCharts() when you need all pinned charts without paging. Keep the tenant scope on these retrievals just as you do on ad hoc queries.
Plan for errors and operational changes
- Schema changed: sync metadata again after table or column changes so the query service has current schema information.
- Query/API request failed: the Node SDK surfaces HTTP failures as errors with a status and optional details. Log useful server-side diagnostics and show an error state in the UI instead of treating failure as zero rows.
- Embed did not load: handle the embed’s
onErrorcallback and provide a recovery path; useonLoadto distinguish a completed load. - Tenant boundary is uncertain: verify the authenticated tenant derivation, database isolation configuration, and cross-tenant denial behavior before exposing analytics to users.
QueryPanel’s SDK documentation explains the example workflow, but the provider is not specified by the topic and this implementation is not a comparison of hosted query services. Pricing, plan limits, service availability, and performance expectations are not established here; check the provider’s current terms and service documentation before choosing it for a production deployment.
