Groups organize related tabs; windows separate browsing workspaces. Use a tab group to keep pages for a subject or task together. On an Android tablet, choose a separate Chrome window when you want a distinct workspace or split-screen multitasking. Google documents tab groups for Android devices generally, but its separate-window instructions are specifically for Android tablets.
Choose the feature that fits your browsing
| Your need | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Keep pages for a task or subject together | Tab group | You can name and color a group, search for it, and close it for later reopening. |
| Carry an organized set of tabs to another signed-in device | Tab group | Google says group changes are automatically saved and synced across devices signed in to the same Google Account, subject to tab-sync settings. |
| Keep separate browsing activities in distinct workspaces on a tablet | Window | Chrome’s tablet tools let you switch between active and inactive windows. |
| See two Chrome windows at once on a tablet | Window | Chrome supports opening a new tablet window in split screen. |
| Organize tabs on an Android phone | Tab group | Google’s group instructions apply to Android generally; its separate-window procedure is for tablets. |
These features can be combined: group related tabs, then move a group to another window on a tablet. Google’s current instructions are in Chrome Help: Manage tabs in Chrome on Android.
What tab groups do
A tab group is a way to organize related pages within Chrome’s tab workflow. In the tab switcher, you can create a group, name and color it, and add tabs from a menu or by dragging them together. You can rename or recolor groups and search for them when you need to find one.
Close a group without losing it
Closing a group leaves it available to reopen from the Tab Groups area. That differs from deleting or ungrouping it: those changes can affect other devices signed in to the same account. If you only want to clear the group from the current tab view temporarily, close it rather than delete it.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Understand syncing
Google states: “When you create or edit a tab group, changes are automatically saved and synced across devices where you’re signed in with the same Google Account.” To stop tab groups from syncing automatically, turn off Open Tabs under Sync. To keep groups from other devices from opening automatically, adjust the Tabs and tab groups setting.
What separate windows do on Android tablets
Windows let you keep broader browsing contexts apart—for example, research for one project in one window and personal browsing in another. Chrome’s tablet window manager shows active and inactive windows. From there, you can switch to another window, restore an inactive one, or close a window. You can also move an individual tab or a whole tab group between windows using a menu or drag-and-drop.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Open a window or use split screen
On a tablet, open a new window from the Chrome menu or through Manage windows. You can open that window in split screen; when Chrome is full screen, Google says a new window starts in split screen by default.
When a window will not open or restore
Chrome may refuse to open a new window after its window limit has been reached. An inactive window may also fail to restore if the limit has been exceeded; close an unused window and try again. Google’s current help instructions do not state a numeric limit, so a specific count should not be assumed.

How to decide in practice
- Start with a group if you mainly want to reduce tab clutter or keep related pages together. This is the relevant option on Android phones as well as tablets.
- Use a tablet window if you need to switch between separate browsing workspaces or keep two Chrome contexts visible in split screen.
- Combine them when a workspace contains several related pages: group those tabs, then move the group between tablet windows as needed.
