Use the administrator steps below for TestFlight or Play Console; Google Play participants can leave their own beta from the Play Store.
Choose the action that matches your goal
| Platform and role | Action | What it affects |
|---|---|---|
| TestFlight administrator | Remove a tester from a group | Stops access to new builds through that group; existing builds remain accessible until they expire. Apple’s group-removal guidance |
| TestFlight administrator | Delete a tester | Removes the tester more broadly from TestFlight for the app; an installed build remains available until it expires. Apple’s deletion guidance |
| TestFlight administrator | Expire a build | Stops all testers from installing that build. Apple’s build-expiration guidance |
| Google Play administrator | Pause the test track | Ends that test; testers stop receiving updates, but the app remains installed. Google Play Console Help |
| Google Play participant | Leave the beta program | Ends that user’s beta participation. To use the public version, Google instructs users to uninstall the beta app and reinstall the public version. Google Play Help |
Remove someone from Apple TestFlight
Remove a tester from one group
- In App Store Connect, select the app and open TestFlight.
- Under Internal Testing or External Testing, select the relevant group.
- Select the tester and choose Remove.
This removes the person from that group, not necessarily from every TestFlight group for the app. Apple says removed testers lose access to new builds in the TestFlight app but retain access to existing builds until they expire. See Remove testers from a group.
Delete a tester from TestFlight for the app
- In App Store Connect, open the app’s TestFlight page.
- Go to Testers > All.
- Select the tester and delete them.
Deletion is broader than removing someone from a single group: it removes the tester from the app’s TestFlight testers. It blocks access to new builds, but a build already installed remains available until it expires. Apple also notes that deleted testers count toward the tester limit until their build expires. See Delete testers from TestFlight.
Stop all testers from installing one build
- In the app’s TestFlight tab, choose the platform under Builds.
- Open the build you want to stop distributing.
- Click Expire Build.
Expiring a build prevents internal and external testers from installing that build. Use this when the build itself should no longer be available, rather than removing individual testers. Apple describes this control in its TestFlight group-removal guidance.

End a beta test in Google Play Console
- In Play Console, open the app and go to the relevant Open testing, Closed testing, or Internal testing track.
- If shown, click Manage track. Google notes this step may not be needed depending on the test and how many tests are running.
- Near the top right, select Pause track.
Pausing the track ends that test: testers stop receiving updates, but the app remains installed on their devices. This workflow ends a track; Google’s cited instructions do not describe removing one named person from a Google Play tester list. Follow Google’s instructions for setting up and managing a test.
