Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Several older graphics cards still have vendor-documented Windows XP drivers, including NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 for Windows XP 64-bit. That does not mean every card works on every XP computer: the driver must match the exact GPU and XP bitness, and the motherboard, card variant, power supply and display connections must also be compatible.
What “usable Windows XP driver” means
A vendor driver page that names both Windows XP and a specific GPU is the strongest evidence that there is a driver path for that card. It is not proof that installation or operation has been tested on every system or board revision. Windows XP 32-bit and Windows XP Professional x64 use separate packages and supported-product lists, so a listing for one does not establish support for the other.
The examples below are vendor-documented models and packages, not a complete inventory of every XP-compatible card. The cited NVIDIA and Intel pages identify operating systems and supported products; the AMD material establishes historical examples but not a complete model-by-model cutoff.
Examples of graphics hardware with XP driver listings
| Vendor and graphics hardware | XP package or release | What the listing establishes |
|---|---|---|
| NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 and other listed GeForce 900-, 700-, 600-, 500- and 400-series desktop models | GeForce Game Ready Driver 368.81, dated July 14, 2016 | NVIDIA lists Windows XP 64-bit and names these models. This page does not establish XP 32-bit support. |
| NVIDIA GeForce 600-series models, including GTX 680, GTX 670, GTX 660 Ti/660, GTX 650 variants, GT 640/630/620/610 and GeForce 605; plus listed older families | Driver 306.81 | NVIDIA’s Windows XP page lists these and various 500-, 400-, 300-, 200-, 100-, 9-, 8- and 7-series products. Verify the exact model in the full supported-products list. |
| Older NVIDIA GeForce models, including selected GeForce2, GeForce3, GeForce4, GeForce FX, 6-series and 7800 products | ForceWare 81.98; a separate XP 32-bit listing exists for 93.71 | The 81.98 list is for XP 32-bit and includes some Quadro products as well. It does not establish x64 support for the same products. |
| Selected Intel HD Graphics, including HD Graphics 4000, 3000, 2500 and 2000 | XP 32-bit version 14.51.11.5437; XP x64 version 14.51.11.64.5437 | Intel publishes separate 32-bit and x64 packages and warns that the driver will not function with products outside its supported list. |
| Selected AMD/ATI Radeon families, including examples from Radeon HD 5000 and Radeon HD 3200/3300 material | Catalyst 10.6 and Catalyst 8.12 release notes | These historical notes document XP support examples, but do not establish the last supported Radeon model or every bitness and package boundary. |
NVIDIA: match the model to the driver branch
GeForce GTX 960 and later documented XP x64 models
NVIDIA’s GeForce Game Ready Driver 368.81 page is dated July 14, 2016, specifies Windows XP 64-bit, and lists the GeForce GTX 960. The same page includes desktop GeForce models in the 900, 700, 600, 500 and 400 series. Treat this as evidence for the exact XP x64 package and the models named on that page—not as a general claim that those cards have XP 32-bit support.

GeForce 600-series and earlier listings
NVIDIA’s 306.81 Windows XP page lists several GeForce 600-series cards, including GTX 680, GTX 670, GTX 660 Ti and GTX 660, alongside models such as GT 640, GT 630, GT 620, GT 610 and GeForce 605. It also names products in older GeForce families. Because the list is model-specific, check the complete page for the precise card rather than assuming every product in a series is included.
GeForce 6- and 7-series branch boundary
NVIDIA’s GeForce R304 Driver 307.83 release page explains that GeForce 6- and 7-series GPUs move to legacy support after the R304 branch, whose cited releases span 304.xx through 309.xx. NVIDIA states: “GeForce R310 drivers will not support these products.” The practical point is to identify the card’s relevant branch; the existence of an XP GeForce package alone does not tell you which branch supports it.

Older NVIDIA cards and XP 32-bit
NVIDIA’s ForceWare 81.98 XP 32-bit list includes older products such as GeForce2, GeForce3, GeForce4, GeForce FX, GeForce 6100/6150/6200, GeForce 6500/6600/6800 and selected 7800 models, as well as Quadro products. NVIDIA notes that some very old products are not supported in ForceWare Release 80 and should continue using previous Release 70 drivers. A separate 93.71 XP 32-bit list illustrates why the exact driver branch and model list matter. These 32-bit listings are not evidence of x64 availability.
Intel integrated graphics: use an XP-specific product list
Intel’s XP driver package 14.51.11.5437 is for 32-bit Windows XP; its listed driver is 6.14.10.5437. The separate XP x64 package is version 14.51.11.64.5437, with driver 6.14.10.5437. Both pages list selected Intel HD Graphics products, including HD Graphics 4000, 3000, 2500 and 2000, and warn that the package will not function with other products.

Do not infer XP support from similar model names or from a newer Intel driver page. Intel’s 15.33 page names Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 for its listed HD Graphics 4000/5000 and 3rd-generation products, not XP. Intel also advises checking the computer manufacturer’s driver: OEMs can change generic driver software, features or packaging.
AMD and ATI Radeon: historical examples, not a complete cutoff
AMD’s current Radeon legacy-support article covers its enumerated product families on Windows 10, Windows 8.1 and Windows 7, and says no further driver releases are planned for those products. That page does not establish XP support—or the absence of XP support—for every older Radeon or ATI card.

Older AMD-hosted release notes provide specific historical examples: Catalyst 10.6 contains Windows XP Media Center Edition material and support information for Radeon HD 5000 products; Catalyst 8.12 names Radeon HD 3200 and HD 3300 with Windows XP Home Edition. They do not, by themselves, identify the final XP-supported Radeon model, the last XP package for each model, or every 32-bit and x64 variant. For a particular Radeon, rely on an archived package or release note that names the exact product and XP edition.

- Confirm your XP bitness. Identify whether the installation is 32-bit or XP Professional x64, then use a package and product list for that operating system.
- Identify the exact GPU and card. Check the GPU model and the specific board or OEM variant; a broad series name is not enough to establish that the model appears on a vendor list.
- Check the computer manufacturer’s support. OEM systems may use customized graphics drivers or packaging. Intel specifically recommends checking the manufacturer’s driver before using its generic package.
- Check physical compatibility. Confirm the motherboard slot, available power and required connectors, and the card’s display outputs against the computer and monitor. AMD’s upgrade guidance also calls out these hardware-fit checks.
- Verify the relevant driver branch and package. For older NVIDIA models, use the branch and supported-products list applicable to the specific GPU. For Intel or AMD, make sure the page or archived release note explicitly identifies the XP edition and model.
A documented driver listing answers whether a vendor published a package for a named product and operating system. It cannot guarantee installation on a particular machine, compatibility with every card revision, or current availability of an archived download.
