Use multipoint to move between a phone and a computer. Use audio sharing to listen together. Auracast is a separate Bluetooth LE Audio broadcast feature for multiple compatible receivers.
How multipoint and audio sharing differ
| Feature | What connects | Who it helps | What happens to playback |
|---|---|---|---|
| Multipoint | One headset connects to two source devices. | One listener using, for example, a phone and a computer. | The listener switches between sources. In Google’s documented Android workflow, stop playback on one source before starting it on the other. |
| Personal audio sharing | One phone or other source sends audio to two headphone sets. | Two listeners hearing the same content. | Both sets receive the source’s playback; compatible devices and setup depend on the platform. |
| Auracast broadcast audio | One LE Audio broadcaster sends audio to multiple compatible receivers. | Groups listening in shared or public settings. | The broadcaster sends an audio stream to multiple Bluetooth audio sinks. |
Google describes multipoint as connecting headphones to two Bluetooth devices at once and selecting which source to play. Both source devices must already be paired. Multipoint does not mean that one source is sending audio to two listeners. Google’s Android multipoint guidance
When to choose multipoint headphones
Choose multipoint Bluetooth headphones if one person needs to use the same headset with two devices, such as a phone and a laptop. The headset can remain connected to both, but playback behavior is not necessarily seamless: Google’s guidance says to stop audio on the first device before starting it on the second.
Check the exact headphone model’s supported number of simultaneous connections and how it handles switching. The term “Bluetooth headphones” alone does not establish that a model supports multipoint, and the documented Google workflow should not be assumed to describe every manufacturer’s implementation.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
When to use personal audio sharing
Choose audio sharing when two people want to listen to the same source at the same time. Unlike multipoint, the key connection is from one source to multiple headphone sets.
Apple Share Audio
Apple’s Share Audio lets someone wearing AirPods share what they are hearing with a friend using compatible AirPods or Beats. Both headphone sets must be paired with a supported iPhone or iPad. Apple says each set can have its own volume level. Check Apple’s supported-device and setup requirements before relying on the feature: Apple’s Share Audio guide.

Samsung Dual Audio
Samsung Dual Audio sends playback from a supported Galaxy phone to two Bluetooth audio devices simultaneously. Samsung’s US support instructions describe a two-device limit for One UI 2 and later. In that documented setup, connecting a third Bluetooth device disconnects one of the two paired devices. Support depends on the specific phone and software, so check the model’s compatibility: Samsung’s Dual Audio guidance.

Auracast is Bluetooth LE Audio broadcast audio: one compatible source can broadcast to multiple compatible audio receivers. The Bluetooth SIG describes broadcasts as potentially open or closed and says each Auracast receiver can control its volume independently. This is a one-to-many broadcast model, not ordinary multipoint, which concerns one headset connected to multiple sources. Bluetooth SIG’s LE Audio FAQ

The Bluetooth SIG also describes LE Audio Multi-Stream as multiple independent, synchronized streams between a source and one or more sinks. That is distinct from Auracast broadcast; Multi-Stream can support improved earbuds and smoother switching between sources such as a phone and laptop. For context, the SIG defines point-to-point as one-to-one communication and broadcast as one-to-many; its topology overview says BR/EDR point-to-point is optimized for continuous streaming and commonly used by headsets and speakers. Bluetooth SIG’s topology overview
Do not infer Auracast support from a Bluetooth version number alone. The SIG says existing Classic Audio sink products are not automatically compatible with LE Audio sources, although some products support both. Check for explicit LE Audio and Auracast support in both the broadcasting source and the receiving headphones or earbuds.

Choose by counting sources and listeners
- One listener, two source devices: look for multipoint headphones and confirm the model’s connection limit and switching behavior.
- Two listeners, one source, Apple devices: check whether the iPhone or iPad and both headphone sets meet Apple’s Share Audio requirements.
- Two listeners, one source, supported Galaxy phone: check the phone’s Dual Audio support and the two-device limit described by Samsung for One UI 2 and later.
- A group listening to a broadcast: look for explicit Auracast/LE Audio support in the broadcaster and every receiver; compatibility is not guaranteed across older Classic Audio products.
