AI features may also send relevant text to named AI providers, while browser automation can process application-page or session information. What is collected, who can review it, and how long it is kept depends on the specific service and feature.
What information do auto-apply tools collect?
A resume upload is often more than storing a document. A service may extract its text and combine it with information you enter to build a reusable application profile.
- Profile and application details: contact information, resume or CV files and extracted text, work and education history, skills, links, job preferences, and saved screening answers.
- Optional sensitive information: some services may process voluntary self-identification answers if you save them or direct the tool to use them.
- Operational data: account and subscription details, usage, IP address and device or browser signals, error logs, application status, progress, and submission confirmations.
The precise categories depend on the provider, product feature, and your settings. Check the current policy and settings before uploading information you would not want the service to process.
How can AI features use your resume?
AI-assisted features may parse a CV, match jobs, tailor documents, or draft answers. To do that, a service may send relevant resume or profile text, a job description, or an application question to an AI provider. The amount and type of information can vary by feature.

- Glever says it sends an application question and relevant profile or resume context to its server and then to Anthropic. It says it does not send an entire profile for every request. Glever’s privacy policy.
- HelpMeApply.ai names OpenAI and Google Gemini and says it sends relevant CV or profile portions and job descriptions. Its policy says it uses enterprise terms that do not permit its AI providers to train on the data, and that optional demographic data is excluded from AI providers. These are HelpMeApply’s statements about its own service and arrangements, not a guarantee about other tools. HelpMeApply.ai’s privacy policy.
Before using an AI feature, look for which fields it sends, which provider receives them, and whether the policy’s no-training statement applies to that particular feature and data.
What can browser automation access?
Automation that fills or submits forms can encounter information displayed on a job site, form fields, and the state of the browser session. Access varies by extension and by when you activate it; the examples below should not be generalized to every tool.

Review the extension’s requested site permissions and its explanation of cookie or session handling. A narrow sign-in check and an agent that processes page content are materially different access patterns.

After submission, the recipient’s terms and privacy policy govern its handling of the application. HelpMeApply.ai says it cannot retract or delete an application from an employer’s system on your behalf. Deleting your account with an auto-apply provider is therefore not the same as deleting an application already received downstream. HelpMeApply.ai’s privacy policy.
Can company staff see or submit applications?
Human review and approval controls differ between services and workflows. Glever says its personnel can review queued applications before submitting them for a user. For its Apply For Me feature, staff may see applications for postings the user did not individually select. Its in-app autofill workflow instead leaves submission to the user. Retention periods are provider-specific. HelpMeApply.ai states that account, profile, and CV data are kept while the account is active; account data is deleted within 30 days after account deletion, subject to legal retention; diagnostic logs are kept for 90 days; and analytics data for 14 months. Those periods apply to HelpMeApply’s stated practices only, not to other tools. HelpMeApply.ai’s privacy policy.

How to assess a tool before uploading your resume
- Read the current privacy policy and settings. Identify the exact fields collected, including any sensitive or voluntary answers.
- Check AI disclosures. Find out which resume or profile content goes to each AI provider, for what feature, and whether the provider may use it for model training.
- Understand human review and submission. Determine whether staff can inspect applications, whether applications are sent automatically, and whether your approval is required.
- Inspect extension permissions. Compare the sites it can access with its explanation of page, cookie, and session handling.
- Find storage and deletion terms. Check named processors, storage location if disclosed, retention periods, and what account deletion removes.
- Check what happens after submission. Confirm which recipients receive your application and whether the tool can help withdraw or delete it downstream.
Policies describe the providers’ stated practices; they are not independent security audits. Glever’s policy was updated August 18, 2026; HelpMeApply.ai’s policy page search result reported an update on August 10, 2026; and AutoApplier’s policy took effect June 16, 2026. Practices can change with policy versions, product features, settings, and geography. There is no independently published market statistic in these sources that establishes how much data auto-apply services generally collect or how common any one practice is.
