How do I make subtitles bigger in God of War Ragnarök?
Open the game’s accessibility settings and increase Subtitle and Caption Size. The official guide lists three sizes: Default, Large, and X-Large. This setting changes dialogue subtitles and captions; it does not enlarge general interface text.

If menus and other interface labels are the text that is hard to read, change UI Text Size instead. Its listed options are Default, Large, X-Large, and XX-Large. Increasing one control does not automatically change the other.
How do I turn on captions?
Enable Subtitles for spoken dialogue and Captions for non-speech audio and descriptions. They are separate On/Off controls, and both can use the selected subtitle-and-caption size.

For additional context, turn on Speaker Names and Direction Indicators. Speaker names identify who is speaking; direction indicators show the screen-relative direction of audio. You can also choose colors independently for subtitles, speakers, and captions: Off/White, Cyan, Green, Yellow, Pink, Orange, Purple, or Blue.
Subtitles are not a transcript of every line in the game. PlayStation says they cover the main story and main characters. See the official game page for this scope note.

Why didn’t changing text size make the subtitles bigger?
Subtitle and caption size is separate from UI text size. If dialogue text remains too small after changing UI Text Size, adjust Subtitle and Caption Size. Conversely, if subtitles are readable but menus are not, adjust UI Text Size.
- Dialogue subtitles or sound captions: Subtitle and Caption Size.
- Menus and general interface text: UI Text Size.
The official settings guide does not provide a measured minimum font size or a guaranteed viewing distance, so choose a size by checking it on your own display and seating setup.

How can I make subtitles and interface text easier to read?
Change the subtitle and caption background
Set Subtitle and Caption Background to None, Light, or Dark. Light adds a low-opacity dark backing; Dark adds a high-opacity dark backing. You can also enable background blur. These options alter the area behind the text rather than enlarging the letters.
Adjust icon size and UI color correction
Icon Size offers Small, Default, Large, and X-Large. The game also provides UI Color Correction, which may help distinguish interface elements. These controls address icons and interface color, not subtitle font size.

Try high-contrast display options
High Contrast HUD and High Contrast Display provide options for making game information stand out. High Contrast Display presets include General, Red-Green, Green-Red, Blue-Yellow, Collector, Danger, and Lighting. You can also assign colors to ten categories, including characters, enemies, targets, interactables, hazards, traversal markings, and background.
High Contrast Display can be paired with a swipe toggle during gameplay and turns off automatically in character menus. Color filters—Red-Green, Green-Red, and Blue-Yellow—shift colors across the full screen. Try these options in the environments where you need them; the guide does not claim they are medical remedies or guaranteed accommodations.

Should I use a vision or hearing preset?
Presets are a practical starting point, not a substitute for choosing settings that work for you. The hearing preset can help you find subtitle and caption controls; the vision preset can help you find visual options. The preset menus offer Off, Some, and Full levels. You can then adjust individual controls, and settings changed from their preset are marked blue.
For the specific text or cue you are having trouble perceiving, change that control directly. For example, start with captions and direction indicators if you need more sound context, or combine larger UI text with contrast options if interface information is difficult to pick out.
What should I know about the screen reader?
PlayStation describes the screen reader as helping players start the game and adjust settings, but cautions that it may not communicate additional gameplay text and visual information. It should not be assumed to read every on-screen gameplay element aloud. Details are on the PlayStation game page.
What accessibility options does the game include?

Santa Monica Studio’s 2022 announcement described a re-engineered text-size system, including a larger minimum text size and XX-Large UI scaling; that is the studio’s design description, not a measured font-size or viewing-distance guarantee.
