Sony’s optional “Enhance PSSR Image Quality” setting applies only to compatible games, and Sony warns that results vary by title.
Why PSSR does not work in every PS5 Pro game
PSSR is an upscaling feature that a game must support; it is not a console-wide filter that automatically applies to every title. Sony separately says the PS5 Pro can play all PS5 games and limits PSSR—and its enhanced image-quality setting—to games that support the technology. Playing a game on PS5 Pro therefore does not, by itself, mean that game uses PSSR. Sony’s PS5 Pro page
Sony describes PSSR as an AI library that analyzes frames as it upscales game visuals. How it looks depends on the title and its implementation: Sony cautions that results vary, and developers have described title-specific improvements such as image stability, fine detail, motion clarity, or particular visual effects. Those reports should not be treated as a promise of the same change in every game. Sony’s March 16, 2026 announcement
Which games support Enhanced PSSR?

How to turn on Enhance PSSR Image Quality
The setting is optional and does not add PSSR support to a game that lacks it. On PS5 Pro, go to Settings and enable Enhance PSSR Image Quality. Sony says this setting applies to PS5 Pro games that already support PSSR. If you see unexpected visual effects, Sony says you can disable it. Sony’s March 2026 announcement

Original PSSR, Enhanced PSSR, and QSSR are different terms
Original PSSR and Enhanced PSSR are related versions of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. Sony’s March 2026 announcement described an enhanced system setting for supported games and said that adoption of the new version also depends on game support and updates. Sony said it expected most new PS5 Pro titles going forward to launch with Enhanced PSSR; that is a stated expectation, not a guarantee that every new game will support it. Sony’s announcement
QSSR, or Quick Spectral Super Resolution, is a separate upscaling library Sony announced for PS5 on October 1, 2026. Sony named Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei as its first QSSR titles. QSSR is not another name for PS5 Pro PSSR and does not establish PSSR compatibility for PS5 Pro games. Sony’s QSSR announcement

How to check PSSR support for a specific game
- Look for the game in Sony’s “Supported titles with Enhanced PSSR” list if you want to confirm Enhanced PSSR support.
- Check the game’s official update information for PSSR support or a required patch. Support for an earlier version and support for Enhanced PSSR are not necessarily the same.
- On PS5 Pro, enable “Enhance PSSR Image Quality” only if you want to try the optional setting. Compare the game’s image with the setting on and off, since outcomes and possible visual effects depend on the title.
Sony has not published a figure establishing what share of all PS5 Pro games use PSSR. Its named Enhanced PSSR list should not be used to calculate that share: it is not a complete list of every game using any version of PSSR.
