You can build a simple application without writing code by choosing a no-code builder, defining one clear job for the app, and connecting its screens, data, and actions. The key is to keep the first version small, test it with realistic use, and check how the platform handles sharing or publishing before you commit.

1. Define the app’s first job

Write one sentence describing who the app is for and what task it helps them complete. For example: “This app helps a small team record maintenance requests and track their status.”

Then list only the actions needed to complete that job. A first version might let someone view requests, add one, and change its status. Put ideas such as notifications, reports, or extra user roles on a separate list for a later version. Bubble’s guide recommends identifying the core functionality and expected user interactions before building: Building your first app.

2. Sketch the screens and decide what data to store

Draw a few rough screen boxes on paper or use a digital wireframing tool. For each screen, note what a user sees and what they can do. A basic request-tracking app might need a list screen, a detail screen, and a form for adding a request.

  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Next, list the information the app must remember. For that example, each request could have a title, description, date, and status. If you plan to start from a spreadsheet, make the columns clear and put column headers in the first row; AppSheet recommends this arrangement for tables. Its documented data sources include Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, and Cloud SQL: How to create an app.

3. Choose a builder that fits how the app will work

Compare builders based on the app’s data, workflow, audience, and route to users—not just on how quickly you can make a screen.

Choose a data-first route for spreadsheet-based workflows

If your app mainly organizes information already held in a spreadsheet, AppSheet is one documented option. You can start from supported data, a template, or a blank app; the platform also documents a Gemini-assisted creation option. See Get started with AppSheet and How to create an app.

Choose around custom workflows and interface needs

If the app needs more tailored data structures, screens, or workflows, use the builder’s planning tools to check that it can represent those requirements before you begin. Bubble’s documentation organizes its beginner path around a database, user interface, and workflows. It also says web and native mobile builds can share a database and backend logic, while its native mobile editor is in beta: New? Start Here.

Check publishing and plan requirements early

Development, testing, sharing, and production deployment may have different requirements. Google AppSheet Help says, “App development and testing is always free on AppSheet,” and also directs builders to run a deployment check and subscribe to a paid plan after development and testing: Create apps: The Essentials. Glide’s cited Free plan does not include sharing or publishing, according to its publishing limitations page. These are platform-specific details; check each provider’s current plan and deployment requirements for your intended use.

4. Create a first version

Start in the way that best matches your plan: connect existing data, adapt a template, or create a blank project. AppSheet documents all three routes as well as Gemini-assisted creation. Get started with AppSheet

Bubble distinguishes a test environment from a live environment in its beginner documentation; AppSheet’s essentials guide links to preview, testing, and deployment topics.

6. Publish or share only after checking the route to users

Before you promise a free launch, app-store installation, or a particular sharing model, verify that the selected platform supports it under its current requirements. For native mobile distribution, Bubble’s documentation describes web and mobile support but flags its native editor as beta, so confirm that the beta status and publishing path suit your needs: New? Start Here. For other builders, review current deployment checks, plan limits, and user-access settings with the provider.

7. Improve the app in small steps

After users try the first version, revise the parts that make the original task difficult. Add a feature only when it helps users complete that job; keeping the scope narrow makes changes easier to evaluate.
