Then check power and pairing, and compare polling-rate settings if the problem persists. Change one thing at a time and test in the game and setup where you notice the issue.
Move the receiver closer and clear of interference
A receiver hidden behind a computer case or placed beside USB 3 equipment may have a less reliable connection. Plug it into an unobstructed port near the mouse, with a clear path between them where practical. If the computer’s USB 3 drives, hubs, cables, or other devices are nearby, separate the receiver from them.
A standard USB extension cable can help you position the receiver near the mouse while keeping it away from the computer and USB 3 equipment. Logitech and Razer both describe USB 3 sources as a possible cause of delayed or erratic wireless input and recommend separating the receiver from them: Logitech’s USB 3 interference guidance and Razer’s USB 3 interference guidance.
For Razer’s HyperPolling Wireless Dongle, Razer specifically recommends keeping the dongle in line of sight and within 30 cm of the mouse. That is placement guidance for this product, not a universal distance requirement for all wireless gaming mice: Razer HyperPolling Wireless Dongle setup.

Reduce nearby wireless traffic
Other wireless devices and nearby 2.4 GHz equipment can contribute to inconsistent tracking. As a diagnostic, temporarily disconnect other wireless devices and test again. Move the mouse and receiver away from routers and other 2.4 GHz devices where possible.
Logitech’s troubleshooting guidance for inconsistent gaming-mouse tracking recommends trying a distance of at least 2 meters from routers and other 2.4 GHz devices. Treat that as a troubleshooting step from Logitech, not a distance that every setup requires: Logitech guidance for inconsistent gaming-mouse tracking.

Check power, pairing, and updates
- Recharge the mouse or replace its batteries.
- Reconnect or re-pair the mouse and receiver using the instructions for your exact model.
- Check the manufacturer’s current firmware guidance and install applicable operating-system updates.
- If the issue remains, test the mouse on another computer or in another location to see whether the problem follows the mouse or the original setup.
Logitech’s tracking guidance covers power, connection, and environmental checks; its troubleshooting steps are a useful starting point, but follow your mouse’s own instructions for model-specific reconnection or pairing.
Adjust polling rate only if needed
Polling rate, also called report rate, is how often the mouse reports its position to the computer. A higher setting can make movement feel smoother, but it also creates more USB traffic. Logitech says some users may see FPS drops above 1 kHz and suggests trying a lower report rate or another game: Logitech’s report-rate and FPS guidance. This is a possible system-performance trade-off, not a claim that every PC will lose FPS at higher rates.

Use the mouse’s software or documented controls to change the rate, then compare settings in the same game and conditions. Watch for perceived response, tracking stability, FPS, battery use, and whether the game and system handle the selected rate well. Logitech does not establish one polling rate as best for every mouse and PC.

- Note when and where the problem occurs, along with your current receiver position and polling rate.
- Move the receiver closer to the mouse and away from USB 3 equipment. Retest before changing anything else.
- Temporarily reduce nearby wireless activity or move away from routers and other 2.4 GHz equipment, then retest.
- Check battery charge, pairing, and applicable updates.
- If the issue continues and the mouse supports it, compare a lower polling rate with the current one. Check both game performance and mouse behavior.
- Test another computer or location if needed. If the issue follows the mouse after these checks, consult the manufacturer’s support for that model.
Logitech lists up to 30 feet (10 meters) as an operating distance in ideal clear-line-of-sight conditions, but that is not a recommended gaming distance. For troubleshooting, a receiver closer to the mouse may be more useful: Logitech’s receiver operating-distance guidance.
