First identify which update is missing: the Steam patch itself, or an in-game feature that is locked behind progress in your save. Village in the Shade’s first free update, Patch 1.20, was announced as available on September 28, 2026. But some of its additions require specific milestones, and the Furniture Catalog event can be delayed by story scenes or rain.
Check whether the issue is the Steam patch or an in-game feature
These are separate problems. If Steam has not downloaded or installed Patch 1.20, you have a software-update issue. If the patch is installed but you cannot find a new item, animal, or feature in your save, check that feature’s unlock requirements first.

The official Patch 1.20 announcement says Free Update #1 was available on September 28, 2026. Its listed additions include camping furniture, Silkie Chickens and Mallards, livestock behavior improvements, scarecrow display and crop changes, continuous machine loading and unloading, and bug fixes. The announcement does not establish that every individual problem is fixed.

The Catalog does not appear automatically in a store when the patch installs. The official content announcement describes this unlock sequence:

- Buy at least one piece of furniture from the General Store or Chinana’s stall.
- Wait for the letter about the Furniture Catalog.
- Go to the location indicated in the letter and activate the event.
The event may not trigger on a day with certain main-story scenes or when it is raining. If you have met the requirements but the event does not occur, continue further into the story or wait for clear weather, then check again.
If other updated content is missing
Some additions have their own progression gates. Their absence before you meet the relevant condition does not, by itself, indicate that Patch 1.20 failed to install.

These conditions are from the official Patch 1.20 announcement. Check the corresponding milestone before treating a missing item or animal as a download problem.

The official game announcements do not provide a specific Steam-client troubleshooting procedure for a patch that will not download or install. Avoid assuming that a reinstall, download-cache reset, or file verification is a publisher-prescribed fix.

For an unresolved technical issue, Steam’s technical-issue page for the game lists NIS America support at gamesupport@nisamerica.com. When contacting support, describe whether Steam failed to install the patch or whether a particular in-game feature is missing, and include the feature and your relevant progression milestone.

The official announcements page says Patch 1.20 was available on September 28, 2026. An earlier content announcement had listed September 29 as the planned release date. Meanwhile, the official Steam store page displays “See all updates (Latest: Sep 3).” Because that store label conflicts with the later announcement, it should not be used by itself to conclude that the September 28 update is unavailable.
