Can you play Ace Combat Zero on PC? Bandai Namco lists Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War as a PlayStation 2 game released in 2006, not as a PC edition. The PC route covered here is PCSX2 emulation. That means you need a capable computer, a PS2 BIOS dumped from your own console, and the game disc or a backup made from your own disc.
Is Ace Combat Zero available on PC?
Bandai Namco’s product record identifies Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War as a PlayStation 2 release from 2006 and does not list a PC edition. If you want to play on a computer, PCSX2 is the route supported by the documentation cited here; it emulates PS2 software rather than installing a native PC version.
PCSX2’s compatibility table marks the US release, serial SLUS-21346, as “Playable.” The entry shows latest testing with version 1.5.0, so treat that as a compatibility classification for that listed release—not a guarantee of speed or flawless operation on every PC, or confirmation for every regional release. Check the PCSX2 compatibility table for the entry and any later updates.
PCSX2 system requirements
The following are PCSX2’s published emulator tiers, accessed on October 3, 2026. They are not an Ace Combat Zero benchmark. PCSX2 cautions that requirements differ substantially by game, that meeting minimums does not guarantee playable performance, and that some complex PS2 games can challenge CPUs that only meet the Moderate tier. PCSX2’s requirement page also describes a Heavy tier, but the figures above cover the published Minimum and Moderate tiers relevant to checking a prospective setup. Hardware below the listed figures may sometimes run the emulator, but PCSX2 does not promise playability or performance.
What you need before setup
- PCSX2: Get the emulator from its official downloads page and follow the setup guide.
- A PS2 BIOS from your own console: PCSX2 requires a BIOS and says it cannot run games without one; its documentation says there is no open-source alternative. Follow its BIOS guide to dump the software from your PS2.
- Your game: Use the original Ace Combat Zero disc, which PCSX2 can read directly, or a backup you create from your own disc. Its disc guide explains backing up a physical game disc with a compatible optical drive.
- A controller or other input device: PCSX2 supports controller configuration, but it does not require one specific model. Check whether a controller you already own is recognized before buying anything.
How to set up Ace Combat Zero in PCSX2
- Install PCSX2. Use the official download page, then follow the emulator’s setup guide for your operating system.
- Add your PS2 BIOS. Dump it from your own PlayStation 2 and configure PCSX2 to use it, following the official BIOS instructions. The emulator will not run without a BIOS.
- Load the game. Insert the original disc and use PCSX2’s disc workflow, or create a backup from your own disc with a compatible optical drive and use that. See the game and disc instructions.
- Configure your input device. Open Settings > Controllers. PCSX2 recommends SDL as a cross-platform input source. If automatic mapping is supported for your controller, try it; otherwise map the controls manually. Configure the first PS2 port for player one before other ports, as PCSX2’s controller guide recommends.
- Check compatibility if something is wrong. Consult the compatibility table and PCSX2’s setup and troubleshooting documentation rather than assuming a particular graphics, input, or performance fix applies to this game.
Controls: what is and is not established
PCSX2’s controls setup is documented, but a verified game-specific button chart is not. The exact Ace Combat Zero assignments for pitch, roll, yaw, throttle, firing, missiles, targeting, camera, and menus should be checked in the manual or control settings available with your game copy; map those PS2 inputs to your controller in PCSX2. Do not assume a default PC keyboard layout or mouse support.

SDL is PCSX2’s recommended cross-platform input source. Automatic mapping works when PCSX2 supports the device and its layout; when it does not, use Settings > Controllers to assign buttons and analog sticks manually.

What makes Ace Combat Zero distinctive
The PCSX2 route does not change the game’s original design. Bandai Namco describes three Ace Styles—Mercenary, Soldier, and Knight. The game assesses mission behavior after each mission, and the resulting style can affect reputation, radio dialogue, enemy ace units, and some story-movie presentation. Those are game features, not special PCSX2 options. Bandai Namco’s game page also describes a two-player versus mode with stage, aircraft, special-weapon, and match-setting choices; it does not establish online multiplayer or a modern PC network mode.
