You must upload the prerecorded files to a cloud streaming service, arrange them into a playlist, and schedule or start a YouTube broadcast. Once configured, the service can play the files from its cloud infrastructure without your computer staying on.
First, distinguish a live broadcast from repeat playback
“Looping a YouTube playlist” can mean two different things:
- Repeat playback for a viewer: YouTube’s playlist Loop control repeats playback in the player. It does not broadcast the playlist as a live event on your channel. To use it, open a video in the playlist and enable Loop from the playlist box. A queue is different again: YouTube says it does not remain saved after the browser closes. YouTube’s playlist Loop instructions and its queue guidance explain those playback controls.
- Continuous live broadcast: A service sends your prerecorded files to YouTube as a live stream. Viewers see a live event on your channel, while the cloud service handles playback and delivery.
This article concerns the second meaning.
What happens after an upload finishes?
YouTube upload, publication, playlist assignment, and live-broadcast scheduling are separate actions. Uploading imports a video; it does not instruct a cloud service to broadcast it. YouTube says processing time varies with quality, length, format, and traffic, and a video may be published after SD processing is complete. You can assign an uploaded video to a YouTube playlist, but that playlist is not automatically a live broadcast. YouTube’s upload instructions cover upload, processing, and playlist assignment.
For a continuous prerecorded broadcast, the cloud service needs the media files and a configured event. A typical workflow is to upload the files to that service, arrange them in a playlist, select YouTube as the destination, and schedule or launch the broadcast. The service then plays the files to YouTube at the configured time. Do not assume it will automatically detect future uploads to your YouTube channel and add them to an airing playlist; that behavior is not established by the cited service documentation.

Ways to get the result
Use a cloud prerecorded-streaming service
Restream documents a workflow in which you upload video files to its storage, create and order a prerecorded livestream playlist, choose channels, and schedule the event. It says video-file and playlist events on supported platforms go live automatically at the scheduled time. Its playlist documentation, published July 25, 2026, lists a maximum duration of 24 hours and up to 40 video entries. Once the playlist is airing, its contents cannot be added, removed, or reordered, although graphics and chat can be edited. Playlist access requires specified Upload & Stream tiers. Restream’s playlist instructions provide the feature details.
Restream distinguishes a playlist from looping one file: its separate Upload & Stream article says a single prerecorded video can loop up to 10 times, for a maximum 40-hour stream, while playlists themselves do not support looping. Duplicating videos in a playlist is subject to the 40-entry limit. Those are vendor-published details, not a general YouTube limit. Restream’s Upload & Stream overview describes the single-video option.

YouTube’s live-streaming tools directory also lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for continuous prerecorded streams. Gyre describes uploading files to cloud storage, arranging a looping playlist, and running it as a continuous live stream. Schedule a video or use a Premiere
Scheduling a YouTube video makes it public at a chosen date and time; until then it remains private. It is timed publication, not an ongoing live playlist. YouTube notes that an active Community Guidelines strike can prevent a scheduled upload from publishing during the penalty period. YouTube’s scheduled publishing instructions explain the feature.

A Premiere lets viewers watch a particular video together as a real-time event, immediately after processing or at a scheduled time. It does not create a continuous playlist broadcast. YouTube’s series playlist information is useful for understanding how series playlists organize videos; a series playlist is not a live-streaming service.
Send a live feed through an encoder
If you already have a live source or a playout system producing a feed, you can send it to YouTube with an encoder. YouTube’s setup uses a server URL and stream key in the encoder. This is a live-feed workflow, not a service that automatically turns uploaded files into a playlist broadcast. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Follow the current YouTube encoder setup instructions for the stream key and server URL.

What to check before choosing a service
Features and plan limits differ, so check the details against the way you intend to run the channel:
- Does the service schedule one-time events, continuous loops, or both?
- Does looping apply to one video, a playlist, or both?
- What are the maximum playlist duration and item count?
- Can you edit, replace, or reorder files after a broadcast begins?
- What storage, resolution, file-format, and transcoding limits apply?
- Does the event start automatically at the scheduled time, and is YouTube supported as the destination?
- Is the feature included in the plan or sold as an add-on, and what are the current price and limits?
For Restream specifically, the page accessed October 4, 2026, lists Marathon at $79/month with a four-hour video library and 1080p maximum resolution, and Media at $239/month with a 12-hour library and 4K maximum resolution. These are vendor-published prices and limits that can change; check the linked playlist page before subscribing. The cited sources do not provide a controlled independent comparison of service reliability or audience performance.
