Awesome Screenshot works with Microsoft Edge, and its publisher recommends installing the dedicated Awesome Screenshot Edge Add-on from Microsoft Edge Add-ons. You can also install the Chrome extension in Edge, but the publisher says the two versions differ in functionality and version, so they should not be treated as interchangeable.
Install Awesome Screenshot in Edge
Recommended: get the Edge Add-on
- In Microsoft Edge, open the Awesome Screenshot listing in Microsoft Edge Add-ons.
- Select Get, then confirm Add extension in Edge’s prompt.
- If the extension icon is not visible, open Edge’s Extensions menu and enable Show in toolbar for Awesome Screenshot. The publisher’s pinning instructions date to 2023, so menu appearance may differ in newer Edge versions: toolbar pinning instructions.
Alternative: install the Chrome extension in Edge
- In Edge, open the Awesome Screenshot Chrome Web Store listing.
- Select Get or Get extension, then confirm Add extension.
- If Edge displays an Allow extensions from other stores banner, enable it before continuing.
This route is distinct from installing the native Edge Add-on. Awesome Screenshot states that their version and functionality differ; it does not publish a full comparison showing exactly which features differ.
Capture a full-page screenshot
The publisher’s full-page instructions include the Edge Add-on. Open Awesome Screenshot, choose Capture, then select Full Page to capture the entire page as a scrolling screenshot. See the full-page capture guide for the publisher’s instructions.
The Chrome Web Store listing describes screenshot capture, recording, annotation, and sharing for the Chrome extension. Those listing claims do not establish that every feature is available in the native Edge Add-on.

Choose between the two Edge installation options

Microsoft Edge Add-ons may show an “incompatible with your browser version” warning, but the listing’s compatibility status can depend on the browser environment and does not establish a universal minimum Edge version. Check the listing from your own Edge installation.
Set the post-capture download behavior
Automatic local screenshot downloads are off by default in the publisher’s Chrome and Edge extensions. If you enable auto-download in Options, screenshots save automatically and the extension may ask you to allow download management. If you leave it off, the post-capture interface offers choices such as Download, Copy, PDF, and Print. See the publisher’s auto-download instructions.

Understand free-plan limits
Account limits are separate from whether the extension is compatible with Edge. Awesome Screenshot says free use is available, with limits on advanced annotation and recording features and on editing or download durations. Its May 15, 2026 help page says Free or Basic cloud accounts can keep 20 recordings total—not 20 per month—and can download or edit eligible recordings up to one hour. Plan terms can change, so check the publisher’s current free-plan limits.
Troubleshoot an Edge extension that will not work
- Check the Edge listing: If it reports an incompatibility, verify the browser version and listing status in your own Edge environment. The available listing information does not establish a universal supported-version boundary.
- Update and restart: Update Edge and the extension, then restart the browser.
- Toggle the extension: Disable and re-enable Awesome Screenshot in Edge’s Extensions menu.
- Check for conflicts: Test with other extensions disabled. If needed, try a fresh browser profile with only Awesome Screenshot enabled.
- Reinstall: Remove the extension and install it again from the store you chose.
- Use another route if the problem persists: The publisher lists its desktop apps, website recorder, or an extension in another browser as alternatives. Follow its extension troubleshooting guide.
