First identify which request stalled and whether you received a test_id; the fix depends on that phase. The available documentation does not establish current LambdaTest timeout codes, service-side duration limits, retry rules, or polling intervals, so avoid guessing numeric settings.
Identify which stage timed out
LambdaTest’s documented flow separates starting a screenshot test from fetching its details or ZIP output. A successful start response includes a test_id, which is used for later result operations. Treat the following as a practical debugging framework, not as LambdaTest-published timeout classifications:
- Start request: Your client times out while sending the POST or waiting for its response. You may not know whether a test was created.
- Hosted run: The start request returned a
test_id, but the screenshot job has not completed when you check it. - Result retrieval: The job appears to have completed, but fetching details or the ZIP stalls or fails.
Also distinguish a connection timeout from a response/read timeout in your HTTP client. A connection timeout generally means the client did not establish the connection in time; a read timeout means the connection was made but the client did not receive a response within its configured wait. Record which one occurred rather than treating both as a generic “LambdaTest timeout.”
Check the start request before changing client timeouts
The current TestMu AI support page shows the start operation as an authenticated POST to https://api.lambdatest.com/screenshots/v1/, with Basic authentication, JSON content, and a request body containing fields such as url, defer_time, resolution values, tunnel settings, credentials, callback URL, and configs. Its successful example returns a test_id. Match the endpoint, method, content type, credentials, and request shape to the current documentation for your account.

- Record the exact endpoint, method, request start time, elapsed time, HTTP status, and response body.
- Check whether the start response arrived and included a
test_id. If it did, move on to diagnosing the hosted run or result request rather than resubmitting the start call. - If the start request timed out without a response, do not assume it failed before creating a test. The available material does not establish safe retry behavior; check for a created test before blindly sending another start request.
- Review request-specific inputs such as tunnel, credentials, and other configuration fields. Their presence in the request format does not establish that any one of them causes a timeout; use the actual response and logs to narrow the cause.
If the test started but the screenshot is not ready
Use the test_id with the documented later operations to inspect the screenshot test and retrieve its output. The API reference lists operations for fetching screenshot details, retrieving a ZIP, and stopping a test by ID. Its displayed version is 1.0.1 and the indexed copy is several years old, so use it as a structural guide—not proof of current timing behavior or exact current request details.
Keep job completion separate from your client’s HTTP wait. A slow capture may explain why a result is not ready, but it does not establish that increasing the HTTP connection timeout is the right change. Log each status/detail request separately, including its endpoint and elapsed time, so you can tell whether the hosted job is still running or the result request itself is stuck.

Use defer_time for capture timing, not HTTP timeouts
LambdaTest Community product support wrote on July 14, 2022: “Defer time allows you to take the screenshots of the website once all the elements of the website are loaded.” That describes when capture occurs relative to page loading; it does not describe the caller’s HTTP connection or read timeout. If the screenshot is taken before page content appears, investigate page readiness and capture timing. The available source does not establish current units or an accepted range for defer_time, so check current documentation before changing its value.
Retrieve details or the ZIP as a separate request
If the start call returned a test_id but a later details or ZIP request times out, preserve the original ID and investigate that retrieval endpoint independently. Confirm the ID is the one returned by the start response, record the exact retrieval URL and response, and compare the time spent waiting for the result with the time spent making the request. Do not infer that a retrieval timeout means the capture failed.

What to send LambdaTest support
If the available response and logs do not explain the stall, provide enough evidence to identify the request phase without sending secrets:
- Endpoint and HTTP method, plus the timestamp and elapsed time.
- HTTP status and response body, if received.
test_id, if the start request returned one.- A sanitized account/request configuration, including whether a tunnel or credentials were involved.
- Whether the delay was during connection, waiting for the HTTP response, hosted capture, or result retrieval.
