To close a Puppeteer browser context and every page it owns, call and await context.close():

Create a separate context, use it for the pages that belong to that unit of work, then close it when finished:

}context.close() returns a Promise<void>. Awaiting it ensures the close operation completes before the surrounding async function continues. Closing the context also closes all pages associated with it, so you do not need to close those pages individually when your intent is to dispose of the whole context. Puppeteer API: BrowserContext.close()
The finally block is useful when page work might throw: it attempts context cleanup whether the work succeeds or fails. If cleanup itself can fail in your application, handle that error according to your logging and shutdown policy.

Close only the context you created
The default browser context cannot be closed. For work that needs a disposable context, create one with browser.createBrowserContext() and close that returned context after use. Puppeteer documents that separate browser contexts isolate cookies and local storage; its context creation API also says contexts do not share cookies or cache. Choose the right cleanup scope

Troubleshoot context cleanup
- The default context cannot be closed: create a separate context with
browser.createBrowserContext()if you need a context you can dispose. - Pages are still open: closing the context is intended to close all pages associated with it. If you need some pages to remain open, close only the page or pages you want to discard rather than closing their shared context.
- The browser process should remain available: use
context.close()for context-scoped cleanup, notbrowser.close(). Usebrowser.disconnect()only when you want Puppeteer to detach while leaving the browser process running.
