Most avoidable Angular problems come from treating templates as harmless strings, optimizing without profiling, putting too much logic in templates, misunderstanding dependency-injection scope, or following setup advice that no longer matches the project’s Angular version. Use this checklist to catch those mistakes and choose a correction that fits your application.

1. Don’t build Angular templates from untrusted input

Angular sanitizes or escapes untrusted values used in ordinary template bindings and interpolation. That protection does not make template source safe to construct dynamically: Angular treats templates as trusted executable code, so combining user-controlled input with template syntax can create a template-injection vulnerability.

  • Display external or user-supplied values through normal Angular bindings; do not concatenate them into template source.
  • Avoid APIs that bypass Angular’s security protections unless the content has been validated for the exact security context in which it will be used.
  • Use ahead-of-time (AOT) compilation in production. Angular says its AOT template compiler prevents a class of template-injection vulnerabilities and improves performance.
  • Use content security policy (CSP) and Trusted Types as additional layers of defense. They complement, rather than replace, safe template practices.
  • Escape server-generated HTML appropriately; Angular’s client-side protections do not eliminate injection risks in HTML created on the server.

Sanitization is context-specific. A value safe to display as text is not automatically safe as a URL or trusted resource. Follow Angular’s security guidance for the relevant context.

2. Don’t optimize before identifying the bottleneck

A slow application does not tell you whether the problem is initial loading or interaction after the page appears. Profile first, then test a remedy against the observed bottleneck. Angular points developers to Chrome DevTools’ Angular track and Angular DevTools for examining slow components and change-detection cycles.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What feels slow What to investigate Possible directions to evaluate
Initial load Startup work, large components, images, and the time before useful content appears. Consider @defer for large components, NgOptimizedImage for above-the-fold images, or server-side rendering (SSR), where appropriate.
Interactions after load Expensive template expressions or lifecycle hooks, and unnecessary work triggered through the application’s change-detection setup. Measure whether simplifying expressions, using OnPush, or adopting zoneless change detection suits the application.

These are investigation paths, not guaranteed fixes. Use profiling to locate the cost, change one relevant thing at a time, and verify the result in the application. Angular’s performance guidance describes profiling and optimization options.

3. Don’t let a component’s template become a second application

Templates can contain straightforward expressions. The warning sign is logic that makes the template difficult to read, reason about, or maintain. Angular’s style guide recommends moving genuinely complex logic into TypeScript, often into a computed when derived state is involved.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
  • Keep the template focused on expressing the UI and its bindings.
  • Move complex derivations into component TypeScript; use a computed when the value is derived from reactive state.
  • Move standalone transformations or validation rules into a function or class when that makes their purpose and reuse clearer.
  • Keep components and directives focused on the UI rather than accumulating unrelated responsibilities.

This is a readability guideline, not a ban on template expressions. Angular’s style guide recommends refactoring when template code becomes too complex.

4. Don’t assume an injectable service has one application-wide instance

Angular dependency injection is hierarchical. The injector that provides a service affects who can access that instance and how long it can live. A provider declared on a component creates an instance in that component’s injector, available to that component and its descendants. A sibling or parent does not automatically share that component-scoped instance; another provider may give it a different one.

Provider location Scope to expect When it fits
Application- or route-level provider Shared at the corresponding injector scope; the exact visibility depends on where the provider is registered. When consumers within that scope should share the same service instance.
Component-level provider A distinct instance for that component and its descendants; its lifetime follows the component. When state or service lifetime should be isolated to a component subtree.

Choose the provider location based on intended sharing and lifetime rather than reflexively registering every service at the root. Angular explains provider registration in Defining dependency providers.

Other dependency-injection traps

  • Using an interface as a token: TypeScript interfaces do not exist at runtime, so they cannot be injection tokens. Use an InjectionToken for interface-shaped configuration.
  • Trying to fix circular services with forwardRef(): Angular’s troubleshooting guide says this does not solve service circular dependencies. Restructure shared logic or use event-based communication instead.
  • Expecting standalone dependencies to be automatic: Angular’s troubleshooting guidance says that in standalone components on Angular v20 and later, dependencies must be explicitly imported or provided in each component.

When injection fails, inspect the provider registration and injector hierarchy before changing tokens or adding more providers. See Angular’s dependency-injection debugging guide.

5. Don’t apply standalone-component advice without checking the Angular version

The default changed in Angular 19.0: components are standalone by default starting with that release. Before Angular 19.0, the standalone default was false. Advice that omits this distinction can lead to confusing setup or migration errors.

Project context What to check
Angular 19.0 or later Standalone is the component default. Template dependencies such as components, directives, and pipes belong in the component’s imports.
Before Angular 19.0 The standalone default was false; inspect the component’s existing setup rather than assuming the newer default.
Existing NgModule-based project NgModule-based projects remain a documented setup. You do not have to migrate solely to follow this checklist.

Check the project’s Angular version and architecture before changing component metadata or imports. Angular documents the version distinction in its component guide.

If your Angular work also needs website screenshots, ScreenshotNeo offers a one-call screenshot API. For example, this cURL request captures a page as WebP:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. It accepts cookie and consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server gives AI agents tools for screenshots, page information, and PDF capture. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
