Each data row is reported as a separate test case. Create and dispose a WebDriver for each invocation when you want browser state isolated, then run the project with the test runner configured by its template.
Choose an xUnit version and runner
For a new project, choose xUnit v3 or v2 deliberately rather than mixing examples and runner settings. The official xUnit v3 getting-started page, dated May 2, 2026, shows xUnit.net v3 4.0.0-pre.108, .NET SDK 10.0.102, and .NET 8; these are the versions in that example, not a blanket recommendation to use a prerelease. Check the template and package release state for your installation. xUnit v3 getting started
The xUnit v2 guide, dated July 4, 2025, uses xUnit.net v2 2.9.3, SDK 9.0.301, and .NET 8 in its example and identifies v2 as being in maintenance mode. It remains relevant when maintaining an existing v2 project. xUnit v2 getting started
Runner configuration affects how a project is launched. xUnit v3 documents both Microsoft Testing Platform (MTP) support and a VSTest option; older v2 projects commonly use Visual Studio runner packages. Follow the settings generated for your chosen SDK and template. Do not assume that a command or package setup for one runner applies unchanged to another. xUnit v3 runner choices

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Create a test project and add Selenium
Start with an xUnit project generated for the framework version and runner you selected. Add the Selenium .NET WebDriver package and a browser driver package or driver-management setup appropriate to your environment. Selenium’s first-script guide requires .NET SDK 8.0 or later for its documented test suite; that is a requirement for that example repository, not a universal minimum for every Selenium .NET project. The code below demonstrates a complete theory method using ChromeDriver and a stable local test page. It assumes Chrome and a compatible driver setup are available to the test process, and that the example HTML is served at the stated URL. Pin package versions through your project template or package management rather than copying version numbers from a different xUnit runner configuration.

Write a Selenium theory with multiple inputs
Use [Fact] for a test that checks an invariant condition. Use [Theory] when the test’s expected result depends on supplied data. Each [InlineData] row supplies arguments to the theory method and becomes its own reported case. The official xUnit v2 guide describes facts as invariant tests and theories as tests that are true for particular data. xUnit v2 guide
Here, two search terms are submitted to the same local page. The test asserts a visible result that includes the submitted term; it is illustrative of the test pattern, so ensure the local page implements the specified form and result behavior.

Keep inline rows short and readable. If rows become numerous, need computed setup, or are easier to maintain as a separate dataset, use a richer data-source attribute supported by your selected xUnit version. Confirm that attribute’s API and runner behavior in the documentation for that version rather than assuming a v2 example works unchanged in v3.
Keep browser state isolated between cases
Each theory row is a distinct test invocation, but isolation depends on how the test creates and shares state. In the examples above, each invocation creates a new driver and disposes it with using. That avoids carrying cookies, navigation state, open windows, or other mutable browser state from one input row to another. It also means browser startup happens for every row.

A shared fixture can reduce repeated setup cost, but a single mutable browser session shared across cases can make results order-dependent. If using fixtures or parallel execution, choose a lifecycle that prevents cases from manipulating the same driver concurrently or inheriting unintended state. There is no single fixture pattern that fits every xUnit version and project configuration; make the ownership and cleanup rules explicit.

Use the runner configured for the project. For a VSTest-compatible template, run the project with:
dotnet test
Selenium’s documented example repository also uses dotnet test; xUnit v3 projects configured for Microsoft Testing Platform may have different invocation and project settings. Check the selected template’s instructions before substituting commands from another runner configuration. Selenium first-script test instructions
The test runner reports each theory row as its own case. If the webdriver row fails while selenium passes, inspect that row’s arguments alongside its assertion failure and browser output. This identifies which input exposed the failure without duplicating the test method.

- The test method does not compile: Check that every
[InlineData]row supplies the same number of arguments, in the same order and compatible types, as the theory method parameters. - No theory cases run: Confirm the project has the xUnit framework and the runner integration appropriate to its v2 or v3 setup. Verify the template’s runner configuration and test discovery settings.
- ChromeDriver cannot start: Make sure Chrome is installed in the test environment and that your driver-management setup can locate or provide a compatible driver. Check the underlying driver exception for the missing executable or version mismatch.
- An element lookup fails: Confirm the target page loaded, the selector matches the current page, and the test is not looking for an element before it appears. Use an explicit wait when the application renders asynchronously instead of relying on timing luck.
- A case passes alone but fails in a batch: Look for shared driver state, shared test data, or concurrent cases mutating the same browser or application state. Give each invocation isolated state or coordinate access intentionally.
dotnet testdoes not behave as expected: Check whether the project uses VSTest or an MTP configuration. Runner choice changes project configuration and command behavior; use the command documented for the generated project.

If your goal is to capture pages rather than exercise application behavior through Selenium, ScreenshotNeo provides a one-request website screenshot API. For example, from a shell:
Quick Recap
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for parameters and response details. It accepts cookie or consent banners as a visitor and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers indicate the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides screenshot and page-info tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.
